Job Description

We believe general-purpose, generally-intelligent robots will be built in our lifetimes. Robots will work in our factories, move our goods, walk on our streets and eventually be in our homes. To build that future, research and deployment must work in lockstep: real-world operation must make the technology better, and better technology must make deployment easier. We're looking for the thinkers, builders, and researchers who want to be part of that loop.

Founded by MIT alumni and backed by over $40M from leading AI and robotics investors, we deploy real robotic systems directly into the facilities that power the physical economy. We don't just build robots — we build them, ship them, and keep them running.

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Production Engineer (Electrical Test) to build and own the electrical test systems that ensure every robot we ship meets our standards for quality, reliability, and performance.

This role reports to the Head of Manufacturing and Supply Chain, with a dotted line to Hardware Engineering.

The goal is simple: build a system that lets us deliver high-quality robots at scale and at the lowest practical cost.

You'll work directly with Manufacturing, Hardware Engineering, Firmware, Quality, and Supply Chain to turn electrical designs into robust, repeatable production systems. This is a floor-first role — you'll spend real time at the bench and on the line, not behind a desk.

What You'll Do

    Build the test system

    • Design and deploy manual and automated electrical test systems for our robot components and assemblies
    • Develop production tests for PCBAs, power distribution, motor controllers, batteries/BMS, sensors, actuators, and wire harnesses
    • Build test fixtures, Python automation, and clear pass/fail criteria
    • Own electrical safety and compliance testing in production — hipot/dielectric withstand, ground bond and continuity, insulation resistance, and ESD controls on the floor
    • Own electrical test coverage end to end, from incoming components through final robot test
    • Make the data useful

      • Capture test results against serial numbers in ION, our MES, so every unit we ship has a traceable electrical test record
      • Use production data to improve First Pass Yield and reduce defect escapes, rework, test time, and cost
      • Report yield and top failure modes on a regular cadence, and drive the corrective actions that move them
      • Find root cause

        • Troubleshoot failures down to the PCBA and component level, determine root cause, and close the loop with design
        • Perform PCB bring-up, firmware validation, board-level debug, rework, and failure analysis
        • Scale it

          • Create simple, repeatable test procedures and troubleshooting guides for Manufacturing
          • Train technicians on electrical testing and troubleshooting
          • Work with Hardware Engineering and Supply Chain to identify, test, and qualify alternative electrical components and suppliers
          • Help transition new electrical designs from prototype into stable, scalable production

Requirements

  • 2+ years in electrical test, manufacturing, or hardware engineering, with strong EE fundamentals and hands-on hardware experience
  • PCB/PCBA bring-up, testing, and component-level troubleshooting
  • Hands-on with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, current probes, power supplies, and electronic loads
  • Experience developing automated hardware test systems and fixtures
  • Python, and enough embedded firmware familiarity to debug alongside our Firmware team
  • Working knowledge of CAN, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, or UART
  • Comfortable spending significant time directly on the Manufacturing floor
  • Nice to haves

    • Power electronics, motor controls, batteries/BMS, or robotics systems experience
    • PCB rework and soldering
    • Safety/compliance test experience (hipot, ground bond, insulation resistance)
    • Experience feeding test data into an MES or similar production system

The Person

You like to build things and figure out why things fail.

You don't stop at "the board is bad." You want to know what failed, why it failed, and how we prevent it from happening again.

You can take an ambiguous problem, build the test, collect the data, find the root cause, and push the solution forward.

You understand that a great robot design isn't finished until we can build it, test it, troubleshoot it, and scale it.

Most importantly, you are creative, hands-on, and can figure out pretty much anything.
