Job Description
The Production Engineer supports manufacturing operations in a highly automated automotive production environment by improving production processes, optimizing equipment performance, reducing downtime, and increasing overall operational efficiency. This role works closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to identify and implement process improvements, support new model launches, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
- Support daily manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets.
- Analyze production processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize workflow.
- Monitor production performance metrics and develop action plans to address process concerns.
- Support troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and production-related issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for process and equipment failures.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
- Participate in new equipment installation, process validation, and production line startup activities.
- Support line balancing and capacity improvement initiatives to meet production requirements.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to improve equipment reliability and process stability.
- Collect, analyze, and report production data related to efficiency, downtime, scrap, and quality performance.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S methodologies.
- Support implementation and optimization of automation technologies, robotics, and manufacturing systems.
- Ensure compliance with company safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Participate in Gemba walks and production floor observations to identify improvement opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
AUTHORITY & SCOPE This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalate matters as required

Required Education & Experience
- Associate's degree or equivalent technical training in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- 1-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting production processes, equipment, or continuous improvement activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze production data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, work instructions, and process specifications.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing.
- Familiarity with automated manufacturing equipment, robotics, and PLC-controlled systems.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and 5S principles.
- Experience with process optimization, line balancing, and capacity planning.
- Understanding of quality systems and manufacturing performance metrics
Working Conditions:
- Office and manufacturing plant environment with frequent walking throughout the production floor.
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment, forklifts, and automated systems.
- Ability to wear required PPE while working in production areas.
- Overtime as needed.
