Job Description

Production Engineer

Are you passionate about improving well performance and production efficiency?

Would you like to help deliver practical solutions that maximize asset value and operational reliability?

Join our team

Baker Hughes is a global energy‑technology company operating in more than 120 countries. We deliver innovative solutions that make energy safer, cleaner, and more efficient. Our production and reservoir teams work closely with customers to optimize well performance, improve production efficiency, and maximize recovery throughout the asset lifecycle.

Partner with the best

As a Production Engineer, you will support the diagnosis, modeling, and resolution of well production issues across producing assets. You will apply production technology workflows, well performance modeling, nodal analysis, artificial lift evaluation, and production surveillance techniques to identify constraints and improve well deliverability. Working with multidisciplinary teams, you will convert technical analysis into practical, executable field programs that enhance production performance and operational reliability.

As a Production Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Analyzing well performance issues, including:
    • Production decline
    • Liquid loading
    • Artificial lift underperformance
    • Water or gas breakthrough
    • Sand production
    • Scale formation
    • Emulsion challenges
    • Integrity constraints
    • Flow instability
  • Building and maintaining well, network, and nodal analysis models to evaluate:
    • Inflow performance
    • Outflow constraints
    • Artificial lift behavior
    • Tubing performance
    • Production system bottlenecks
  • Translating production modeling and engineering analysis into actionable operational work programs, including:
    • Well intervention candidates
    • Production optimization initiatives
    • Artificial lift adjustments
    • Surveillance requirements
    • Field execution plans
  • Integrating well test data, production trends, pressure data, artificial lift parameters, intervention history, and field observations to validate models and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborating with reservoir engineering, production operations, well services, facilities, and flow assurance teams to align recommendations with operational requirements and asset priorities.
  • Supporting production optimization by identifying opportunities to:
    • Improve well deliverability
    • Reduce downtime
    • Optimize artificial lift performance
    • Debottleneck production systems
    • Restore or increase production output
  • Preparing technical justifications, expected production impacts, implementation risks, surveillance plans, and post‑job evaluation criteria for production enhancement activities.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Hold a BSc or MSc degree in Petroleum Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Bring 8–12 years of experience in:
    • Production technology
    • Well performance analysis
    • Production optimization
    • Well intervention planning
    • Field production engineering
  • Demonstrate practical experience diagnosing and resolving production issues in both naturally flowing and artificially lifted wells
  • Have strong knowledge of:
    • Nodal analysis
    • Well modeling
    • Production system modeling
    • Artificial lift evaluation
    • Production surveillance workflows
  • Be able to convert modeling results and production diagnostics into field‑ready work programs with clear execution steps, risk assessments, expected benefits, and monitoring requirements.

Work in a way that works for you

This is a full‑time technical role supporting production optimization and well performance improvement activities. The role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across reservoir engineering, production operations, well intervention, facilities, and flow assurance functions.

Working with us

At Baker Hughes, we combine engineering expertise, operational knowledge, and advanced technologies to help customers maximize production performance and asset value. Our teams work collaboratively to solve complex production challenges and deliver sustainable operational improvements.
