The Production Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing fabrication and manufacturing activities related to pressure vessels, process skids, columns, and fired/static equipment. The role requires strong knowledge of fabrication processes, production planning, welding, quality compliance, and adherence to applicable codes and standards such as ASME Section VIII and related industry requirements.

Production Planning & Execution:

  • Plan and monitor fabrication activities for pressure vessels, columns, skids, and fired/static equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, GA drawings, and welding details.
  • Prepare production schedules and ensure timely completion as per project milestones.
  • Coordinate with design, quality, procurement, and project teams to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Optimize resource utilization including manpower, machines, and materials.

Fabrication & Manufacturing Oversight:

  • Supervise fabrication processes such as cutting, rolling, fit-up, welding, assembly, and erection.
  • Ensure compliance with approved WPS, PQR, and welding procedures.
  • Monitor dimensional accuracy, tolerances, and fabrication quality.
  • Ensure proper handling and fabrication of carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials.
  • Oversee skid assembly including structural, piping, and equipment integration.

Codes, Standards & Quality Compliance:

  • Ensure fabrication activities comply with ASME Section VIII, API, ISO, and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections such as fit-up, welding, NDT, hydrotest, and final inspection.
  • Maintain production documentation, inspection records, and traceability.
  • Support audits by clients, third-party inspectors, and certification bodies.

Shop Floor Coordination & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead and guide supervisors, welders, and fabrication teams.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement productivity improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and safe work practices.
  • Support implementation of lean manufacturing and process improvements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering.
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in fabrication and manufacturing of: Pressure vessels, Columns and reactors, Process skids Fired heaters and static equipment (preferred not mandatory).

Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes and shop practices.
  • Familiarity with ASME Section VIII, welding standards, and fabrication codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of welding processes such as GTAW, SMAW, SAW, and GMAW.
  • Experience with production planning and shop floor coordination.
  • Understanding of NDT methods such as RT, UT, PT, and MT.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy engineering manufacturing.
  • Exposure to fired heater fabrication is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office.
