What You’ll Do
The CNC Production Specialist will coordinate and optimize automated sheet metal manufacturing operations within a fast-paced HVAC production environment, including automated coil handling / Cut-to-Length, CNC punching, and bending processes. This role is responsible for process optimization, equipment performance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives involving Prima and Cidan technologies, including FL, SB, PSR, and EBe automation systems.
Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for punching, bending, and automated fabrication operations.
Support and optimize manufacturing operations involving PRIMA technologies such as FL, SB systems, eBe panel bending solutions, and PSR One Piece Flow automation systems.
Coordinate operators and CNC programmers in operating and programming Prima and Cidan equipment, leveraging Prima software for nesting, job setup, and optimization while maintaining throughput, yield, and quality standards.
Assist with machine setup, tooling selection, nesting activities, process validation, and production adjustments to maximize efficiency, operational performance, and material utilization.
Monitor equipment performance, production flow, and operational efficiency while identifying opportunities for process, safety, uptime, and quality improvements.
Analyze production metrics, machine data, software reports, and KPIs to identify efficiency and quality improvement opportunities while reducing downtime, scrap, manufacturing inefficiencies, and material waste.
Troubleshoot issues related to CNC programs, tooling, automation systems, fabrication equipment, and production processes.
Work closely with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Quality teams, onsite CNC operators, the Montreal CNC team, and CNC programmers to resolve operational and process-related challenges.
Support and coordinate process improvements, routing updates, and manufacturing optimization initiatives across production operations.
Coordinate and collaborate with Maintenance to perform hands-on maintenance, adjustments, and troubleshooting on Prima and Cidan machinery to minimize downtime, while coordinating external service support and maintaining accurate maintenance records when required.
Assist in the implementation, startup, commissioning, optimization, and upgrade of new manufacturing equipment and automation technologies.
Create and maintain production documentation, machine setup information, standardized operating procedures, and process parameters.
Provide guidance, training, and technical support to CNC operators and team members assigned to the line.
Track and report daily/weekly KPIs including OEE, scrap rates, downtime, throughput, and production output.
Contribute to Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and 80/20 initiatives aimed at improving productivity, quality, material utilization, and overall operational performance.
Ensure all manufacturing activities are performed in accordance with company safety procedures, quality standards, and production requirements.
Maintain communication with customers, suppliers, and service providers to support machinery performance and quality standards.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
What You’ll Need
Technical degree, vocational training in Manufacturing, Programming, or related field.
10+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or production environment. Experience in commissioning or launching a new production line an asset.
Hands-on experience with Prima software and equipment required (NCX, MBC, Cidan).
Strong communication skills in English required; Spanish is considered an asset.
Strong understanding of CNC-controlled cutting (punch/shear), punching, and bending processes.
Strong understanding of automated manufacturing systems, material handling technologies, and production automation workflows.
Strong understanding of tooling and design for manufacturing.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for production equipment.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Strong organizational and communication skills with a proven ability to meet production targets.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and production documentation.
Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within manufacturing environments.
Ability to maintain a steady work pace while consistently delivering quality results.
Ability to proactively identify, address, and resolve work-related issues.
Demonstrated versatility, autonomy, and strong accountability.
Ability to contribute positively as a collaborative and reliable team member.
Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
Willingness to share knowledge and expertise to support team growth.
Familiarity with ERP/MES systems for production tracking and reporting is considered an asset.
