What you’ll be doing:
- Manage food purchase requisitions, inventory control and management for food and beverage supplies
- Ensure the quality and proper use of produce and applicable products
- Participate in the development of cyclical menus and lead menu adjustment requests, reviews and decisions
- Participate in reviewing work of supervised staff through
- Directly responsible for the functioning of relevant equipment, arranging for maintenance and repairs and locking out of equipment when necessary
- Interact with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health Unit regarding outbreak protocol
- Respond to client/patient requests/concerns directly or through appropriate forums
- Communicate and ensure compliance of Health and Safety, Food Safety/Quality and Productivity standards
- Responsible for the supervision of 15-20 staff members and support hiring, training, orientation and performance management of staff
- Understand the collective agreement and ensure it is adhered to
- Maintain anecdotal notes, minutes, legislated records, and other records as required by the department
- Continuous Quality Improvement including identifying the need for, organize and lead quality improvement initiatives - (production staff)
- Make recommendations related to health and safety
- Participate on applicable and appropriate Health Centre Committees
- Identify, plan, and implement revenue generating ideas
- Working with the Nutrition Services team, develop and revise cafeteria and catering menus with the intent to increase sales
- Assist in product testing
What we’re looking for:
- Red Seal Required
- Education in Culinary arts required
- Membership in CSNM (Canadian Society of Nutrition Management) – national association- required and/or willing to obtain within 1 yr. of employment
- Menu planning and development
- Valid Food Handler's course from a recognized institution-mandatory,
- Knowledge and commitment to health and safety standards, regulations, supervisory responsibilities and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to schedule employees and production shifts within a multi-shift food production environment
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in Food Production and Nutrition, with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
- Knowledge of equipment management and capital planning
- Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of Therapeutic Diets
- Knowledge of Sanitation Code and all applicable legislation
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing work environment
- Excellent listening skills coupled with the ability to offer tactful, courteous client-centered service
- Ability to work with little supervision
