Come help shape the future growth of Johnson Outdoors and our Fishing brands by playing a key role within the Manufacturing department. Located at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on the shores of beautiful Lake Eufaula, Alabama, the Production Lead is responsible for providing leadership and direction of teams of Production Associates on the assigned shift and production lines to meet expected targets of productivity, quality and cost control.

What you will be doing:

  • Coordinate and assign tasks to production staff following the daily production schedule. Troubleshoot processes and equipment when issues arise.
  • Assist with monitoring fluctuating workloads of team members to ensure effective departmental operations. Alert leadership of any significant coverage gaps.
  • Train team members and act as a resource to the team by assisting with problem resolution and providing informal coaching.
  • Prepare all direct materials via work orders and indirect material for production consumption.
  • Proactively seek process, cost and quality improvements. Monitor and check products produced to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Maintain high levels of safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform day-to-day production activities on the floor which may include performing assembly and operating equipment.
  • Assist with tracking and collecting process data to control and monitor key performance indicators, perform reporting and monitor compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years’s experience on the production floor which includes possessing multiple skills/facets within the area supported.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and work under tight deadlines while maintaining positive employee relations.
  • Demonstrated advance troubleshooting skills to provide guidance to team members.
  • Ability to make independent and effective decisions.
  • Ability to successfully learn new skills and processes.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to provide effective guidance and training to team members.
  • Primary job functions may involve extensive standing, walking, lifting and bending.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
