Cleans, prepares, slices, chops, mixes, seasons, portions, wraps and labels food products including but not limited to vegetables, fruits, salads, sandwiches as well some hot food products. Portions desserts, prepares and uses food garnishes.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Prepares cold foods and limited hot foods as directed. Assists in the preparation of supplements and other nourishments as instructed using proper format and procedures. Prepares custard, diet custard, jello and diet jello and other similar products following proper production schedules. Prepares other supplements and desserts as directed by supervisor. Washes and prepares vegetables. Slices meats and cheeses, using electric slicing machine as required. Uses knives and electric blenders and choppers. Prepares composition salads. Assembles cold plates including but not limited to salads and sandwiches.
2. Maintains work area as directed. Ensures proper working environment in area of responsibility. Cleans work area at the completion of the tray line. Maintains sanitation standards as per protocol. Operates and maintains food preparation equipment according to standards.
3. Communicates and coordinates with supervisor regarding various duties. Coordinates with supervisor or others in areas of sandwich, salad dessert, supplemental nourishment preparation for night and weekend shifts. Communicates supply needs to supervisor or others for reorder of stock as necessary. Maintains up to date Quality Control charts for production, dating, temperature readings and all other related records.
4. Participates in other food service functions as directed. Bakes items as designated.
5. May work on various trayline positions as required or directed. Serves hot and cold food according to standard procedure.

1. High school education or equivalent.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Must be able to follow oral and written directions. Requires simple use of formulas and adjustable measuring instruments and graduates. Over 3 and up to and including 6 months training.
Employees must be at least 18 years of age to perform this role.
Preferred:
1. Food production or food service experience.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
