Job Description
The Product Engineering Technician provides hands-on technical support to operations, helping maintain efficient and reliable device processing across the warehouse floor. This role is responsible for supporting workstation readiness, including cable management, hardware connectivity, and troubleshooting of equipment used in device handling and content clearing. The position works closely with operators to investigate issues, replicate problems, identify practical solutions, and communicate findings to Engineering and other cross-functional partners as needed. Additionally, the Product Engineering Tech will work on other projects delegated by leadership related to engineering, quality, continuous improvements, and other supply chain functions. Success in this role requires a strong troubleshooting mindset, clear communication, and a willingness to learn new tools, processes, and technologies in a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical support to maintain workstation readiness across the warehouse floor, including PCs, cables, hubs, and related equipment.
- Maintain cable management standards, including inspecting, replacing, routing, and securing cables to support safe and functional work areas.
- Support day-to-day troubleshooting of hardware, software, and connectivity issues that impact operational performance.
- Replicate reported problems, collect logs and supporting data, and communicate findings to the appropriate cross-functional teams.
- Update work instructions and process documentation as needed to reflect issue resolution, process changes, and operational best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform hands-on workstation and cable organization tasks, including routing cables and using tools such as zip ties and cable cutters.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate issues, test possible solutions, and communicate findings clearly.
- General knowledge of iOS and Android devices, including basic device handling and troubleshooting concepts.
- Ability to learn new tools, systems, and processes in a technical operations environment.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Willingness to document findings, update instructions, and share knowledge with others through training and support.
- Ability to identify, articulate, and communicate technical issues and recommended solutions to operators and cross-functional partners.
Preferred Qualifications Notice
The qualifications below are preferred and not required for consideration. Relevant education, certifications, or experience in areas such as IT, engineering, technical support, or technical writing/documentation are considered a plus. Candidates with hands-on experience, strong troubleshooting ability, clear communication skills, and a willingness to learn will also be strongly considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in information technology, engineering technology, electronics, computer systems, technical writing, or a related field preferred.
- CompTIA A+, Google IT Support Certificate, or similar technical certification preferred.
- Experience with technical documentation, work instructions, or process updates preferred.
- Experience in operations support, production support, device processing, repair, or technical troubleshooting environments preferred.
- General understanding of PC hardware and workstation components preferred.
- Familiarity with common operating systems such as Windows, Linux, or macOS preferred.
- 0-3 years experience working with mobile devices, computers, or electronic components.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suites.
Physical / Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work on-site in a production or operations floor environment.
- Ability to move between workstations and perform hands-on support activities throughout the day.
- Ability to handle cables, small tools, mobile devices, and computer hardware components.
