The opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transformer Technical Specialistto lead technical initiatives across the entire lifecycle of power and distribution transformers. The ideal candidate will have a deep technical background (10-15 years) spanning transformer design (electromagnetic/mechanical), tendering/bidding support, rigorous testing, and advanced condition monitoring. This role will act as the advisor on technical matters, ensuring design efficiency, compliance with global standards, and operational reliability.
How you'll make an impact:
Lead the design and validation of high-capacity power transformers (up to 220kV/400kV class) and special-application transformers (Furnace, Rectifier, Solar), perform electromagnetic design calculations (losses, impedance, short circuit forces, thermal management) using software tools (e.g., Maxwell, Flux2D/3D, TrafoCAD, or internal simulation software).
Review mechanical designs to ensure structural integrity and optimal cooling, mentor junior design engineers and approve design protocols and Bill of Materials (BOM).
Analyze customer technical specifications (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, IS) and prepare detailed technical proposals, guaranteed technical particulars (GTP), and compliance statements.
Collaborate with the sales team to develop optimized, cost-effective, and technically sound transformer designs to win bids, lead technical discussions with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders during pre-tender and contract stages.
Oversee and analyze routine, type, and special tests (e.g., Impulse, Temperature rise, Dielectric tests) in NABL accredited labs.
Validate design calculations against test results and implement improvements, troubleshoot test failures and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to rectify defects.
Provide expertise on transformer diagnostics, including DGA (Dissolved Gas Analysis), Tan Delta, SFRA (Sweep Frequency Response Analysis), and partial discharge monitoring, provide technical support for on-site commissioning, failure investigations, and overhauling projects.
Develop condition assessment reports and health indexing to guide maintenance strategies.
You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
Your background:
You hold a degree in B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical Engineering (Specialization in Power Systems or Machines / Transformers preferred).
Should have10-15 years of hands-on experience in the Transformer Industry (Manufacturing or Utility).
Proficiency in Finite Element Method (FEM) software and transformer design software.
Thorough knowledge of IEC 60076, IEEE C57, and other relevant international standards.
Deep knowledge of insulation systems, oil-filled transformer design, winding configurations, and material selection (CRGO, Copper).
Strong ability to interpret test data and perform故障 diagnostic analysis.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client presentations and documentation.
