As part of the Products team and reporting to the Head of Genetics, you’ll play a key supporting role across our Genetics portfolio. You’ll work alongside our Product Managers as a subject matter expert in our genetics products (including sexed semen, beef and SGL), helping translate technical detail into practical guidance that supports confident decisions on farm. You’ll partner closely with Agri Managers and other stakeholders to strengthen product understanding, respond to questions and escalations, and help ensure our products are used in ways that drive meaningful herd improvement for farmers around the country. This role includes regular travel (up to 20%) to stay connected to on‑farm needs and support consistent delivery nationwide.
Product & Field Support
As part of LIC’s Genetics product teams you’ll provide frontline support for product and sales queries. You’ll work closely with Agri Managers to strengthen understanding of product value, appropriate use, and how it should be applied in different farm systems, helping New Zealand farmers get the best outcomes from our genetics products.
Enablement & Education
Work with Product Managers and Sales Capability to build and deliver training, tools, and guidance for i Agri Managers and customers. You’ll turn product updates, trial results and technical concepts into simple, practical resources that support consistent advice across the country.
Customer Insight & Feedback Loops
Gather and synthesise customer, Agri Manager and operational feedback to support Product Managers and R&D in improving existing products and developing new ones. You’ll stay close to on‑farm needs and industry direction, using evidence and insight to help shape priorities across the Genetics portfolio.
Technical Content & Decision Support
Produce clear analysis and fit‑for‑purpose reports that help internal teams and farmers make good breeding decisions. You’ll connect the science behind our genetics products to practical on‑farm decisions, helping drive consistent herd improvement over time.
You’ll bring the following skills and experience….
Dairy Industry Knowledge:
You will have experience in the dairy sector and can demonstrate an understanding of on farm needs when it comes to herd improvement through artificial breeding.
While you may not have worked with Bull Selection, you’ll bring a strong science understanding and the ability to quickly learn the genetics aspects of the role, enabling you to engage confidently with stakeholders on topics relating to animal breeding.
Products & Genetics:
A strong understanding of genetics and our key product categories (e.g., sexed semen, beef and SGL). You’re the kind of person who enjoys digging into a catalogue and helping others make sense of it.
Ability to figure out solutions to hard problems using data, logic, and the assessment of risk.
Analytical Skills:
Ability to demonstrate a proficiency working with data to get insights and aid decision making.
Competent with basic statistics, modelling, and other forms of business analysis.
Experience with analytical or modelling tools such as Excel or SQL (beneficial).
Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication skills that can be deployed to advance a position and influence others.
Presentation skills, and confidence communicating ideas to diverse groups of people in both formal and informal settings.
Qualifications:
Tertiary qualified with a relevant degree (e.g., agriculture, animal science, agri‑business, business, or a related field), plus at least two years’ relevant experience.
