Job Description

The Role

The Product Strategy Manager will define the product strategy for JoVE Research, a platform providing step-by-step video demonstrations of experiment methods for scientists.

The role will identify where JoVE should play, how it can win, and which product and content opportunities can drive growth. This person will build a strong understanding of researchers, the market, competitors, and industry changes. These insights will guide product priorities, new ideas, and long-term bets for the JoVE Research platform and content portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop the product strategy for JoVE Research, aligned with the company's growth objectives.
  • Turn customer needs, market trends, competitor activity, and product performance into clear priorities.
  • Develop recommendations for product enhancements, new products, platform capabilities, and research content.
  • Speak regularly with researchers, authors, and research leaders to understand their needs, pain points, workflows, and changing behaviors.
  • Develop a strong view on how AI is being adopted in the research industry. Identify useful practices, assess risks, and recommend what JoVE should or should not adopt.
  • Lead early discovery and validation through interviews, surveys, concept tests, prototypes, and pilots.
  • Design and run a social listening process to track relevant conversations, topics, communities, and customer sentiment.
  • Define success measures and goals for strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 4-7 years of experience across product strategy, product management, new product development, new initiatives, or consulting.
  • Strong understanding of researchers and research workflows is required. This may come from working in life science research, supporting researchers, or conducting research.
  • Demonstrated success in turning unclear market and customer inputs into product opportunities and strategic recommendations.
