Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP SPECIALIST

POSITION OBJECTIVE

• This position will assist with the planning, implementation and maintenance of FPC USA’s product stewardship programs for compliance with applicable local, state, federal and global chemical regulations and industrial standards.
• Supports operation and business divisions in handling customers’ regulatory inquiries of products manufactured at FPC USA’s TX and LA facilities; as well as facilitates product stewardship compliance for products that FPC USA imports and sells globally.
• Additional responsibilities of this position may include compliance audits (GMP), training scheduling, corrective action tracking, and other EHS related activities (DOT/SDS and Product LCA assessment).

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

• Coordinates FPC USA compliance with domestic, global regulations and industry standards related to product stewardship programs including:
• Food contact application and GMP compliance (FDA, EU, HPB, others)
• Drug and Device master files submission
• Chemical registration and reporting management (TSCA, REACH, others)
• Industry standards for product safety and application (ISO, IATF, Kosher, NSF, USP etc.)
• Responds to customer inquiries and questionnaires for product stewardship and regulatory information.
• Maintains FPC USA regulatory statements, declarations and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all branded FPC USA products.
• Reviews and updates FPC’s internal compliance procedures and participates in the audits of product stewardship program compliance and tracks corrective actions from audits.
• Collaborates with multiple divisions to manage product safety, environmental, and human impacts across the product life cycle and supply chain, supporting FPC’s ESG and sustainability initiatives.
• Develops and maintains FPC USA’s product regulatory database for compliance.
• Performs other similar and related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous Related Experience Required

• 0-3 years in a chemical, engineering, safety, environmental, other scientific related or regulatory role or major
• General knowledge of petrochemical and plastics product is beneficial
• Experience or knowledge in Sustainability or ESG beneficial

Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job

• Comfortable with scientific, regulatory and technical terminology and review of regulations. Ability to evaluate technical questions, prioritize actions and research responses.
• Able to interpret regulations and implement them for compliance.
• Strong writing and communication skills, both professionally and effectively.
• Excellent organizational, time and project management skills. Close attention to detail and sharp investigative skills.
• Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities as well as to evaluate situations, identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to work in a matrixed environment, address a range of functions and diverse businesses, and interact with individuals at all levels within the organization. Ability to work independently as well as within a variety of teams.
• Strong computer skills, highly proficient with Microsoft Office functions including Excel, PowerPoint, Word as well as other software analytical tools and e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively.

Education

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or science related discipline.

Standard Requirements

• Approximately 10-20% travel, primarily to company plant locations in Texas and Louisiana.
• Must have regular, reliable attendance as well as the ability to periodically work outside the regular schedule.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse slate of individuals, including employees and management. Projects a positive attitude and desire to learn.
• Assure compliance with all company safety, health, and security programs and practices.
• Provide management and leadership timely and thorough reporting of all incidents to ensure all incidents are investigated properly.
