Job Description

Introduction to the job

As a Product Security Subject Matter Expert, you will help protect ASML’s advanced technology by embedding security into product designs. Your work ensures that our products meet strict security standards, safeguarding intellectual property and supporting innovation for the world’s leading chipmakers. You will guide development teams and influence design choices that strengthen product security across multiple domains.

Role and responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate with architects, designers, and security specialists to implement effective security controls. You will also shape roadmaps and standards that drive secure product development.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Review and provide input on product designs to ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Partner with design teams to guide secure design decisions.
  • Update and improve internal guidelines for product security and IP protection.
  • Define future direction for controls such as encryption, tamper resistance, and runtime protection.

Education and experience

You bring strong technical expertise and practical experience in product security:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in product security or a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience in: designing security solutions for complex products, coaching and mentoring less experienced colleagues and implementing IP protection controls.
  • Knowledge of encryption and cryptography is highly relevant.

Skills

Working at the cutting edge of tech, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve – and working together is the only way to do that. You won’t work in a silo. Instead, you’ll be part of a work environment where you’ll collaborate with supportive colleagues. There is always space for creative and unique points of view. You’ll have the flexibility and our trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems. To thrive in this job you will need the following skills:

  • Translate security standards into practical design controls.
  • Balance security solutions with other business priorities.
  • Communicate clearly and influence stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate integrity and persistence in solving complex issues.
  • Apply strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Show eagerness to learn and adapt.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

About ASML

Who are we?

ASML is an innovation leader in the global semiconductor industry. We make machines that chipmakers use to mass produce microchips. Founded in 1984 in the Netherlands with just a handful of employees, we’ve now grown to over 40,000 employees, 143 nationalities and more than 60 locations around the world.

What do we do?

We provide chipmakers with hardware, software and services to mass produce patterns on silicon through lithography. Our lithography systems use ultraviolet light to create billions of tiny structures on silicon that together make up a microchip. We push our technology to new limits to enable our customers to create smaller, faster and more powerful chips.

Who are our people?

While you may think that only engineers and mathematicians work at ASML, you'll be surprised to find out that our people come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Across ASML, we have dedicated teams that manage customer support, communications and media, IT, software development and more. Every team in the company is essential for pushing our technology and the industry forward.

If you love to tackle challenges and innovate in a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment with all the flexibility and freedom to unleash your full potential, ASML is the place to be.
