Product Safety Senior Manager-Product Safety- SAPEHS/S4HANA

Location: Hyderabad, India (Hybrid)

As a Senior Manager in Product Safety, you will supervise and coordinate SAP EHS/S4HANA system and data management activities, ensuring compliance with global chemical and transport regulations. You will oversee hazard classifications, author Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and manage technical tools and interfaces within SAP. This role is pivotal in maintaining data integrity, monitoring regulatory changes, and providing hazard communication to support Lonza’s global operations and marketability.

Key Responsibilities

  • System & Data Management: Supervise and coordinate SAP EHS/S4HANA system activities, ensuring functionality, data integrity, and compliance.

  • Process Optimization: Evaluate and implement improvements at the intersection of SAP EHS users and IT topics, documenting processes and innovative solutions.

  • Hazard Classification: Perform hazard classifications according to GHS, Dangerous Goods, and local regulations to ensure safe market entry of products.

  • Transport Safety: Analyze and communicate transport hazards across all routes; maintain IATA DGR certification for classification.

  • SDS & Label Management: Author and manage regionally compliant SDS and label elements for applicable products using SAP EHS/S4HANA.

  • Regulatory Documentation: Ensure provision of mandatory documents such as SDS, label information, DG classifications, and marketability reports.

  • System Tools & Updates: Establish and update user tools (expert rules, SDS templates, WWI templates, multilingual phrases), monitor data quality, and provide training.

  • User Support: Support internal and external SAP EHS/S4HANA users, assign authorizations, and deliver training as needed.

  • Interface Management: Maintain and update interfaces to other SAP modules and integrate chemical regulatory data from external providers.

  • Consultation & Communication: Provide technical expertise, consult on business strategies, and document processes to support compliance and efficiency.

  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as required to support product safety and compliance initiatives.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Pharmaceutical Science.

  • Master’s degree or higher preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical or chemical industry, with at least 5 years in SAP EHS system and data management. SAP EHS/S4HANA (Advanced level experience)

Certifications & Language

  • Dangerous Goods regulation certification for transport and storage (IATA, ADR, regional authorities).

  • Business fluency in English and German (German proficiency is a huge plus but not mandatory)

Skills & Attributes

  • Expertise in SAP, Excel, WWI programming, and regulatory authority-mandated software.

  • Strong project planning and organizational skills.

  • Hands-on approach with willingness to learn and adapt.

  • Team-oriented mindset with expertise in Environmental, Biological, Chemical, Regulatory, IT, or analytical tools.
