If you are someone who leads with curiosity, takes responsibility for doing things right, works collaboratively to win together, and keeps the customer at the center of every decision, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a global engineering environment.

At Sandvik, we make the shift by advancing the world through engineering. We are looking for a Principal Safety and Compliance Engineer who is energized by solving complex technical challenges, influencing safer product designs, and helping bring reliable battery and charger solutions to customers around the world. In this role, you will lead product safety and regulatory compliance for Sandvik’s batteries and chargers for hybrid and electric loaders and trucks—partnering closely with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, product line, sales, and marketing teams to ensure our products meet high standards for safety, quality, and compliance.

What You’ll Do

  • Bring customers focus into new product development by helping ensure products meet safety requirements in each intended market.
  • Lead with curiosity by monitoring industry trends, emerging regulations, and changing standards that may impact product safety or business risk.
  • Translate complex safety regulations and standards into clear design requirements, constraints, and guidance for engineering teams.
  • Take responsibility for leading and documenting risk assessments, compliance checks, gap analyses, FMEAs, functional safety analyses, and safety validations.
  • Win together with global engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, product line, and commercial teams to identify, prevent, and resolve safety or compliance concerns.
  • Support product safety incident handling, engineering change reviews, supplier requirements, and audits with a focus on quality, integrity, and follow-through.
  • Review manuals and technical documentation to ensure remaining risks are clearly communicated and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Communicate clearly in English with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate effectively with globally dispersed teams and build trust through fair play, transparency, and sound judgment.
  • Work through complex issues with confidence, attention to detail, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Stay self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, highly interactive environment.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or another relevant technical field preferred.
  • Certification or specialized training in regulatory compliance or product safety evaluation is an advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience in engineering, certification, compliance, product safety, or a similar technical discipline.
  • Experience with high-voltage battery systems and/or electric vehicles is a strong advantage.
  • A proven track record of driving continuous improvement and safety initiatives.
  • Knowledge of product development or manufacturing activities, including functional safety, validation, and verification processes.
  • Experience in applying risk assessment and quality tools such as FMEA, design of experiments, statistical process control, process capability evaluation, and corrective and preventive action processes.
  • The ability to understand and interpret regulations and standards such as CE, IEC, ISO, and EN.
  • A forward-thinking approach with the ability to benchmark externally and help raise the organization to new levels of quality and safety.

What’s in It for You

You will join a team that truly values you and your contributions. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Great Pay & Benefits: Competitive salary ($142,000 – $176,000), plus medical, dental, vision insurance, and a 401(k) with a company contribution of 5%, along with a matching contribution.
