Let’s Talk about the Role:
The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for ensuring that all jewelry products, from raw materials to finished goods, meet established quality standards, design specifications, and regulatory requirements, including ISO 9001. This role involves meticulous testing, inspection, documentation, and collaboration with production teams to uphold product integrity and support the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
Responsibilities:
• Inspection and Testing: Perform detailed inspections and tests on incoming raw materials (metals, gemstones, components), in-process items, and finished
jewelry products to verify compliance with specifications and quality benchmarks
• Equipment Maintenance & Calibration: Calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on all laboratory and testing equipment to ensure accuracy and
reliability of results.
• QMS Adherence & Support: Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safety protocols, ensuring strict adherence to the established Quality
Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 standards.
• Problem Solving & Corrective Action: Assist in identifying non-conformities and quality issues, and collaborating with production teams on root cause analysis
and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma) to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve overall process efficiency.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
• Previous experience (2+ years preferred) in a quality control/assurance role within a manufacturing or laboratory setting, preferably the jewelry industry.
• Strong understanding of quality management principles and practices, with specific knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and experience working in an ISO- certified environment.
• Proficiency in using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and laboratory instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints and technical specifications.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):
- Monitoring Operations: After approving the production processes by confirming specifications and conducting visual and measurement tests, quality control inspectors monitor the operations to ensure they meet the approved systems, communicating any required changes to the production supervisor.
- Maintaining Records of Testing: As part of their daily tasks, quality control inspectors maintain detailed records of the testing thats been carried out, as well as relevant additional information and various metrics, such as the number of effective and defective products produced each day.
- Inspecting Procedures: Quality control inspectors inspect, test, or measure materials using gauges, calipers, and micrometers, as well as operating electronic inspection equipment to ensure that all necessary procedures and products are inspected to a high standard.
- Creating Reports for Quality Manager: From the data collected from inspections, quality control inspectors create reports for the quality manager of the company to highlight issues, detail the number of defective products being produced, and explain where improvements can be made.
- Maintaining Compliance: Quality control inspectors monitor production areas, ensuring they meet health and safety compliance, and check that all manufactured products or parts meet the necessary production standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates degree with related coursework w/ a quality engineer certificate preferred; OR
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or another related field preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year in a corporate operations environment.
- Knowledge of ISO 9000 and 13485 quality standards.
- CMM basic knowledge preferred.
- SAP experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to safely access and navigate the operations and production areas
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds if needed.
