The company is currently seeking an experienced Product Quality Engineer

Primary Purpose

The Product Quality Engineer reports to the Executive Manager, Smart Handling. This role focuses on total process and production quality for Daifuku’s Smart Handling products. This role creates quality process

This role creates, directs, and participates in the quality process(es) associated with the design, manufacture, and deployment of semi-complex Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) products and systems with a multidisciplinary team including engineering, project management, sales, and manufacturing disciplines.

This position coordinates with management, supervisors, project management, sales, manufacturing, and customers to produce, maintain, analyze and verify processes associated with creation of a quality Smart Handling product. This position also participates in improvement recommendations related to productivity, quality, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Responsible for creation, leadership, and participation in DFMEA
  • Participation in creation, leadership, and participation in PFMEA
  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of quality processes and documentation associated with product design
  • Responsible for leadership and management of field quality issues, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Responsible for leadership and management of containment plans related to quality corrective actions
  • Responsible for engaging in corporate quality process(es) for manufacturing feedback and engineering changes
  • Accountable for design and documentation quality
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturing review(s)
  • Schedule and perform periodic reviews of design, deployment, and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders in collection and analysis of data and feedback on product quality
  • Provide structured and creative data analysis of manufacturing, customer, and product data to identify quality and process performance improvement opportunities
  • Identify and raise any issues that may impact project or product quality
  • Create material and present to external and internal teams
  • Ensure Smart Handling quality process compliance with corporate guidelines
  • Create and propose process and design improvements in accordance with company guidelines
  • Recommend and implement quality process improvement

Knowledge

  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of quality concepts to product and system design and manufacturing. Development of engineering process is not a requirement of this position, but active and value add participation in engineering process impact on quality is expected.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of manufacturing concepts and techniques, including process and material flow. Development of production process is not a requirement of this position, but active and value add participation in production process impact on quality is expected.
  • Quality Techniques — Knowledge of the theory and practical application of DFMEA, PFMEA, and Design for Manufacturing concepts.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience in engineering management role preferred
  • Experience with Project Management preferred
  • 2+ years of related experience, direct experience in quality process development and execution preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience in product design and/or manufacturing process design preferred

Demonstrated Physical Abilities

  • Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
  • Visits to customer locations may require negotiating through an industrial facility, including, but not limited to, conveyor systems requiring climbing access ladders, negotiation screen guards, catwalks, and lifting and/or carrying objects up to 40 lbs.

Travel

  • Travel is expected to be up to 30%, or as necessary, to successfully engage with internal and external stakeholders in the performance of major areas of responsibility.
