
Ready for your quantum leap? Quantum computing is the next big leap in computing, and quantum-based technologies are developing fast. OP Pohjola has chosen to invest in this promising area, and as a first step, we are creating a cloud-based development and production environment for quantum computing - the Q platform.
We are looking for a product owner for OP Pohjola’s quantum computing platform. The platform will be at the core of our quantum journey, enabling OP Pohjola to develop quantum computing -based solutions and to run them in production. This is a field full of innovation and cutting-edge technologies, and OP Pohjola is aiming for a pole position.
You will be leading the development and maintenance of the research and execution environment – the Q platform – for our quantum computing projects and applications. We will be resourcing our quantum compute capacity from a multitude of providers in the cloud, but for building our applications and using our data in a secure manner, we will build and maintain our own environment in Azure. The field is advancing rapidly, so there will be exciting times ahead as new quantum computing modalities and algorithms open up new possibilities. In this role, you will be a key player in making the future happen.
Key Responsibilities:
The role exists within the Quantum and AI Research Centre (QARC), as part of the support team of the research center. The purpose of QARC is to ensure that OP Pohjola benefits from the latest technological developments in computing, covering both quantum computing and advanced AI. The unit consists of several research teams working in collaboration with teams from the business side to identify and develop use cases, tools and applications bringing the power of advanced computing to the business.
The product owner role is about managing this important capability in all its aspects: functionalities and services it provides, its reliability, performance and roadmap. In the role, you will be working with research teams to bring latest innovations to development use, and to help carry those innovations to production grade solutions.
We are seeking a candidate who is ready to take ownership of this new and exciting technology. The field is constantly evolving, and as such you must be ready to constantly learn new things. You recognize the importance of reliability and scalability and have experience of building and running a team providing production grade IT services. You should be a team player with enthusiasm for new technologies and helping others succeed. You should show initiative and the will to carry responsibility.
