Job Description

Introduction

Shape the technology behind ING’s global equity and listed-products business. As Product Owner, you will lead two squads responsible for applications across the Fidessa, Ullink and Horizon landscape. Combining Financial Markets expertise with product ownership and IT delivery, you will turn business priorities into sustainable solutions that strengthen execution, trade capture and operational stability.

The team

Financial Markets is ING’s gateway to professional markets worldwide, serving clients with products, services and guidance across market-leader, challenger and specialist international markets.

You will join the Financial Markets and Group Treasury Tribe, the change-delivery organisation supporting Financial Markets and Group Treasury. Within the tribe, the Global Equity Listed Products area delivers and evolves ING’s technology landscape for Equity Structured Products, Listed Derivatives and Fixed Income.

As part of the wider Customer Journey Expert community, you will work closely with a Product Manager, neighbouring Product Owners and stakeholders across Trading, Sales, Risk, Operations, IT and Procurement. You will lead two multidisciplinary squads of IT DevOps engineers and Customer Journey Experts.

Roles and responsibilities

You will set direction, make priorities transparent and enable the squads to deliver reliable end-to-end value.

  • Own the vision, roadmap and backlog for the Fidessa and Horizon squads, aligned with product strategy and agreed business outcomes.
  • Prioritise strategic change, regulatory demand and operational stability, making trade-offs across scope, timing and risk explicit.
  • Translate business needs into clear outcomes, requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria that enable effective solution design and delivery.
  • Drive end-to-end improvements in execution and trade-capture flows across systems, squads and operational handoffs.
  • Lead refinement, sprint planning and reviews, maintaining a high-quality backlog and clear delivery alignment.
  • Manage stakeholder and vendor governance, including change intake, release planning, prioritisation decisions and communication.
  • Safeguard operational stability by turning incidents and risks into preventative backlog items and coordinating changes with run and operations teams.
  • Apply systems thinking by identifying long-term risks created by tactical changes and prioritising sustainable solutions that reduce key-person dependencies.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

  • A bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of experience in Financial Markets and/or Treasury, enabling you to own complex change delivery with confidence.
  • Strong knowledge of cash equities, equity-based structured products and their front-to-back flows, particularly execution, trade capture, controls and operational handoffs.
  • Experience working with DevOps teams and sufficient technical understanding to assess application constraints and make informed trade-offs across scope, time and risk.
  • Proven ownership of roadmaps and prioritisation, with the ability to balance competing strategic, regulatory, operational and stakeholder demands.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills in English, allowing you to align senior business and IT stakeholders.
  • Experience in Agile or Scrum delivery. Knowledge of vendor trading platforms such as Fidessa, Horizon or comparable solutions, other asset classes and regulated environments would be valuable.

You are collaborative, curious and comfortable challenging the status quo. You listen to different perspectives, help others succeed and turn complex problems into practical, sustainable solutions.
