Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Product Owner, Financial Crime Transformation

What’s the role?

You’ll be at the centre of transforming how Westpac detects and prevents financial crime. As a Product Owner in our Financial Crime Surveillance (FCS) team, you’ll shape and deliver products with project teams that will help improve how we identify, investigate and respond to financial crime risks.

Furthermore, you’ll turn complex business and regulatory needs into clear, actionable product priorities. You’ll use AI to help design smarter workflows, support automation and advanced analytics, and make sure our tools are practical, scalable and fit for purpose.

This role is about balance — bringing together compliance obligations, user needs and technical possibilities to deliver better outcomes for customers and the business.

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Sydney with flexible working options available.

What do I need?

You’ll bring a product mindset and a strong ability to work across teams. To succeed, you’ll need:

  • Proven experience in product ownership within transformation programs, ideally in financial services or a regulated environment (essential)
  • Experience using AI to improve workflows, enable automation and support advanced analytics (advantageous)
  • Ability to translate complex business and regulatory requirements into clear product features and prioritised backlogs; familiarity with AML, KYC and surveillance concepts
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and confidence partnering with technology and data project teams to deliver outcomes
  • Curious, analytical and solutions-focused, with a continuous improvement mindset

Why join us?

We’re obsessed with becoming our customers #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that:

  • Ongoing special offers on banking products and discounts from top brands, including generous employee-only mortgage rates!
  • Continued flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities to help you grow your career within the bank.
  • Lots of opportunities to ‘give back’ to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives
