We’re Standard Life, a retirement specialist focused entirely on retirement savings and income. We champion the belief that everyone’s journey to and through retirement can be better, and for more than 200 years, we’ve been helping our customers plan and prepare for their financial futures.

Life today is increasingly complicated, uncertain and unpredictable. People move through different careers, face unexpected moments and navigate important choices. We offer our colleagues flexibility, trust and benefits that work for whatever life brings. In return we expect curiosity, connection, accountability and high standards. We make room for what matters - so you can bring your best, every day.

The role

As a Product Owner within our Customer Digital team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, customer-centred digital experiences across our secure digital platforms.

You will work closely with delivery squads, stakeholders and partners to translate customer and business needs into well-defined, prioritised backlog items, ensuring delivery is focused, effective and aligned to customer outcomes.

This role is ideal for someone with hands-on digital delivery experience who enjoys working at pace in an Agile environment and is passionate about improving customer journeys through digital. You’ll collaborate across business, technology and delivery teams, helping ensure work is clearly defined, sequenced and delivers measurable value.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own and manage a product backlog, ensuring priorities are clear and aligned to customer and business needs
  • Work with stakeholders to capture, shape and refine requirements into actionable user stories
  • Collaborate closely with Agile delivery squads to support and enable effective delivery
  • Ensure work is well-defined, understood and ready for development
  • Support prioritisation decisions, balancing customer value, risk and delivery capacity
  • Monitor delivery progress and help remove blockers or clarify requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of digital journeys and customer outcomes
  • Build strong working relationships across Customer Digital, Technology, Change and the wider business

What are we looking for?

Essential

  • Experience working in a Product Owner, Business Analyst or similar digital delivery role
  • Proven experience delivering customer-facing digital products or services (web and/or app)
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies
  • Ability to translate business needs into clear, structured requirements or user stories
  • Stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence working across multiple teams
  • A passion for improving customer outcomes through digital

Desirable

  • Experience working within regulated or complex organisational environments
  • Exposure to end-to-end digital product delivery
  • Experience working with third-party suppliers or multi-supplier models

We want to hire the whole version of you.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If your experience looks different from what we’ve advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we’d love to hear from you.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.

We’re reviewing applications as they come in and may close this role before the closing date, so apply early to avoid missing out. #LI-GJ1
