The Product Owner is accountable for maximising the value of the Byte Coach product by owning the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for their area. They lead an agile delivery team, balancing customer needs, business priorities, and technical considerations to deliver meaningful outcomes.
This role requires strong strategic thinking, excellent stakeholder management, and hands‑on ownership of product discovery and delivery. The Product Owner operates with a high degree of autonomy and is expected to influence direction, not just execute requirements.
Product Ownership & Value Delivery
Own the product backlog for their domain, ensuring it is clearly prioritised, well‑defined, and aligned to business and customer outcomes.
Act as the single point of accountability for value delivered by the scrum team.
Define and communicate a clear product vision and short‑ to medium‑term roadmap aligned to strategic objectives.
Agile Team Leadership
Lead an agile scrum team, working closely with engineering, design, and delivery roles to plan, refine, and deliver high‑quality increments.
Make informed trade‑off decisions between scope, time, and value, taking ownership of outcomes.
Ensure the team has clarity on priorities, goals, and success measures.
Discovery & Requirements
Lead product discovery activities to understand user needs, business problems, and opportunities.
Translate insights into clear user stories with well‑defined acceptance criteria and outcomes.
Ensure both functional and non‑functional requirements are understood and appropriately addressed.
Stakeholder Management
Partner closely with Product Management, commercial, operational, and technical stakeholders to align priorities and manage expectations.
Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly and confidently at all levels of the organisation.
Represent the product and team in cross‑functional forums, contributing to wider product strategy discussions.
Data, Metrics & Continuous Improvement
Define and monitor meaningful product metrics and KPIs, using data to inform decisions and prioritisation.
Use qualitative and quantitative feedback to continuously refine the product and ways of working.
Champion iterative delivery and learning, ensuring improvements are driven by evidence and insight.
Coaching & Leadership
Provide guidance and informal mentorship to less experienced Product Owners or Business Analysts.
Contribute to the development of product practices, standards, and ways of working across the organisation.
Act as a role model for strong product ownership, collaboration, and accountability.
Experience
Significant experience (typically 5–7+ years) in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or product‑focused role within an agile environment.
Proven experience owning and prioritising a product backlog and working with scrum teams to deliver value.
Experience operating at a strategic level while remaining hands‑on with delivery.
Product & Analytical Skills
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with the ability to independently tackle complex problems.
Comfortable using data and insights to inform decisions and measure success.
Experience with digital products; mobile application experience is desirable.
Communication & Influence
Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Confident influencing decisions and advocating for the product and customer at all levels.
Able to articulate product decisions clearly, including trade‑offs and rationale.
