At Oxford Nanopore Technologies, we are transforming the way the world analyses DNA and RNA. Our nanopore-based technology enables real-time, scalable sequencing — from pocket-sized devices to population-scale genomics — empowering researchers and clinicians to ask bigger questions and get answers faster.

Our flagship high-throughput platform, PromethION, sits at the heart of our long-term growth strategy, supporting large-scale genomics, clinical research and industrial applications worldwide.

We are now looking for a strategic, scientifically credible Product Marketing Manager (Manager/Senior Manager level) to own the global go-to-market strategy, positioning and commercial readiness for the PromethION platform and associated consumables.

The Role

Reporting to Joe Whittaker within Global Marketing, you will act as the market-facing owner and internal champion for PromethION — ensuring strong positioning, effective platform placement and commercial success across priority customer segments.

This is a highly cross-functional, high-impact role working closely with Product Management, Segment Marketing, Sales, Marketing Operations and regional teams.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Platform Go-to-Market Leadership

  • Own global GTM strategy across launches, lifecycle updates and end-of-life transitions
  • Lead commercialisation planning from roadmap alignment through launch execution

Positioning & Differentiation

  • Develop compelling, benefit-led positioning and messaging
  • Clearly articulate PromethION’s role within the Oxford Nanopore portfolio
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into strong customer value propositions
  • Drive competitive differentiation in the sequencing market

Sales Enablement & Field Readiness

  • Develop impactful sales tools: training, decks, battlecards, competitive materials
  • Partner with Sales Enablement to ensure field confidence and consistency
  • Support key commercial opportunities and strategic accounts

Market Activation

  • Collaborate with Campaigns, Digital, Events and Regional Marketing to drive pipeline and revenue impact

Strategic Commercial Leadership

  • Act as the voice of the customer and market
  • Gather and synthesise customer and competitive insights
  • Contribute to roadmap, segmentation and growth strategy
  • Monitor market trends and emerging technologies

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Degree in molecular biology, genetics or related discipline
  • 3+ years’ experience in product marketing, product management or similar
  • Experience in genomics markets and platform technologies
  • Strong commercial acumen (regional or global exposure preferred)
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, matrixed, innovation-driven environments

Desirable:

  • PhD or hands-on genomics lab experience
  • Experience marketing next-generation sequencing portfolios
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives

About Oxford Nanopore Technologies

Our goal is to enable the analysis of anything, anywhere, by anyone.

We have developed the world’s first and only nanopore DNA and RNA sequencing platform. It’s a new generation of sequencing technology — the only one to offer: scalability to portable or ultra-high throughput formats, real-time data delivery, and the ability to elucidate rich biological data.

We are aiming to disrupt the way that biological analyses are currently performed, and open up new applications that have a profound, positive impact on society.

Our devices offer real-time analysis, for rapid insights, in fully scalable formats — from pocket to population scale — and the technology is being used in more than 100 countries worldwide.

Founded in 2005 as a spin-out from the University of Oxford, the company now employs more than 600 people from multiple disciplines including nanopore science, molecular biology and applications, informatics, engineering, electronics, manufacturing and commercialisation. The management team, led by CEO Dr Gordon Sanghera, has a track record of delivering disruptive technologies to the market.
