Join Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) as Product Manager – Repair Tools

Are you ready to take on an exciting challenge in product management and marketing?

We’re looking for a Product Manager, Repair Tools, who will take ownership and drive the development, growth and success of our Repair Tools and Cold Repair Polymer product range and works in close collaboration with key stakeholders to enable the global organization to effectively sell and promote the product portfolio and deliver our solution offer to customers.

Be the authority for assigned Repair Tools portfolio segment in terms of product and technical expertise and drive product development and innovation, product marketing and promotion, technical supplier management, as well as product distribution and delivery. The role is expected to combine technical expertise with market and customer insights to deliver products that create value for our customers and help shape the maritime industry.

Who you will work with:

The Product Manager, Repair Tools reports to the Head of Product Management, Welding, Gases & Cylinders and works closely within the product team to develop a solution offer that provides an optimal customer/market fit. The Product Manager collaborates closely with our Procurement, Inventory, Technical Sales, Digital, QHSSE, Marketing, Pricing and Operations teams and externally with product suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the product strategy and long-term development of your assigned product portfolio

  • Manage your assigned product portfolio, in accordance with product lifecycle management principles including developing new products and services, develop and strengthen go-to-market strategies, keeping the portfolio up to date with phase-outs, product improvements, ensuring regulatory compliance and addressing customer needs

  • Create/specify product requirements, properties, and descriptions to be used by suppliers and ensure continuous technical development of products with suppliers, in close collaboration with Global Procurement Manager.

  • Develop and strengthen product competence for sales, customer services, and operations to enable the organization to effectively sell your assigned product portfolio.

  • Monitor the competitive landscape, protect and build market share, and manage the product brand and price position together with other functions.

  • Implement and drive the marketing and promotion of your product portfolio internally and externally using the 4Ps of Marketing.

  • Present and promote products and services at conferences, customer events, and exhibitions to position Wilhelmsen Ships Service as a market leader technically and commercially.

  • Influence and monitor changes in rules and regulations related to your product portfolio.

  • Be a role model by having a 'can do' forward-leaning attitude, especially towards cross-functional collaboration.

  • Utilize technology and digital opportunities to identify market potential and drive improvement in the development of new technology/apps.

  • Support the development of products, services, and digital solutions that cut across different solutions.

  • Support Technical Sales Managers in driving sales activities, including setting sales targets and sales forecasts for optimal stock availability.

  • Develop inventory policies for the portfolio and review and monitor logistics cost, inventory turnover, availability, lead times, and service levels in close collaboration with the Category Demand Manager.

  • Support in defining technical, operational, and user requirements for the digital and technical teams to modernize solution offering, customer services' effectiveness, and customer journey

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent – formal education in engineering, technical studies and / or business administration

  • Experience with pneumatic or electric-powered repair and maintenance tools and as well as repair compounds

  • 2+ years of experience in Product Management. Lack of experience in product management can be compensated by a strong technical understanding and relevant experience working with repair and maintenance tools and compounds as well as an eye for product design and development.

  • Proven communication skills and a good command of the English language (verbal and written)

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively within a multinational environment

  • Able to work independently, systematically and meet deadlines through good time management and allocation of priorities.

  • Self-driven, outgoing, ambitious, and full of initiative

  • Proven team player and strong collaborator with other stakeholders

  • Willingness to travel
