Job Description

About WebPros

WebPros is committed to empowering businesses worldwide through cutting-edge solutions in web hosting, billing automation, infrastructure, server management, and online marketing. Since our founding in 2017, we've rapidly grown into a global leader, expanding our robust portfolio to include industry-defining brands such as cPanel & WHM, Plesk, WHMCS, SolusVM, XOVI, SocialBee, Sitejet and Comet Backup.

Today, we power 85 million+ websites across 900,000+ servers worldwide, backed by a 650+ strong team of dedicated professionals spanning multiple continents. At WebPros, we embrace a fully remote, borderless workplace with a focus on flexibility, autonomy, and work-life balance. Whether you prefer working from a bustling city hub or a quiet home office, we enable our teams to thrive from anywhere while staying deeply connected through our strong collaborative culture.

Your Role

Hi, I'm Carlos Rego, VP of Product (Commerce) at WebPros and your future manager.

I lead the Commerce & Licensing product area — the engine that powers how WebPros products are distributed, licensed, and monetised across our global partner network. Our team sits at a critical intersection: we build the platforms that enable cPanel & WHM, SolusVM, and all WebPros products to reach hundreds of thousands of servers and partners worldwide.

We're hiring a technical Product Manager to own Partner Licensing — the platform that issues, validates, and manages license keys and entitlements for WebPros products distributed through partners and vendors. This is not a typical PM role. You'll be paired with two engineering teams under a shared Team Lead, working in tight coordination with a peer PM whose licensing system yours directly interpolates with. Roadmaps, releases, and technical decisions frequently depend on each other — so peer-PM coordination without a management line is core to how we operate.

If you're energised by API design, integration complexity, and the systems-thinking challenges that licensing creates, this role was built for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Partner Licensing roadmap and release cadence, ensuring WebPros partners have a reliable, evolving licensing experience across all products.
  • Lead two engineering teams as their product lead, partnering with the shared Team Lead and Agile coach on backlog prioritisation, planning, and delivery.
  • Coordinate closely with the peer Licensing PM to align roadmaps and releases across two interdependent systems, so cross-system changes land together and cleanly.
  • Own the partner-facing API and integration surface — driving API design, versioning, deprecation strategy, webhook semantics, SDK direction, and developer ergonomics.
  • Run partner discovery — interviews with WebPros distribution and hosting partners — and translate findings into crisp PRDs, technical specs, and prioritised backlog items.
  • Partner with engineering, security, and legal on entitlement enforcement, license validation, anti-piracy, and trust/abuse concerns.
  • Define and monitor success metrics — partner adoption, licensing reliability, integration support load, and license-related revenue signals — and run experiments where appropriate.

Your Qualifications

Must-haves

  • 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years as a technical PM on an API-first, platform, or developer-facing product.
  • Strong API and integration literacy — able to reason about REST/GraphQL design, auth flows (OAuth/API keys/JWT), webhooks, SDKs, schema evolution, and contract testing.
  • Experience owning a roadmap highly interdependent with a peer team or peer PM, coordinating without a management line.
  • Experience running a predictable release cadence for a technical or platform product.
  • Strong written and verbal English — able to produce crisp PRDs, API specs, release notes, and technical stakeholder updates.

Nice-to-haves

  • Direct experience with software licensing, entitlements, or activation/DRM systems.
  • Background in web hosting, domains, or SaaS infrastructure (cPanel, Plesk, registrars, CDNs, VPS/cloud providers).
  • Experience on developer platforms, partner programs, or B2B2B marketplaces.
  • Exposure to fraud, anti-piracy, abuse, or IP-protection problem spaces.
  • Hands-on technical comfort — able to read server-side code, debug an API call, or sketch a sequence diagram.

Your Impact in the First 120 Days

30 Days — Learn & Integrate

  • Complete WebPros onboarding and get hands-on with the Licensing system(s) and their API surface.
  • Meet the peer Licensing PM, both engineering teams, the shared Team Lead, the Agile coach, and key partner-facing stakeholders.
  • Understand the in-flight roadmap, current release cadence, and the interpolation points between the two licensing systems; shadow an active release.

60 Days — Contribute & Collaborate

  • Take ownership of one in-flight initiative and run it end-to-end across both engineering teams.
  • Establish a working rhythm with the peer PM for cross-system coordination.
  • Run your first release readiness review and begin refining backlog hygiene with the shared Team Lead.

90 Days — Take Ownership

  • Own the next full release cycle across both engineering teams end-to-end, with a clear reliability and partner-adoption bar.
  • Lead a discovery effort on one Partner Licensing initiative and convert it into a funded roadmap item.
  • Deliver first measurable integration or adoption metrics from a shipped change.

120 Days — Drive Growth

  • Own the Partner Licensing roadmap and release cadence end-to-end, with clear alignment to the peer PM.
  • Identify and advocate for the next strategic bets on Partner Licensing across the WebPros portfolio.
  • Act as a trusted technical-PM voice in API and integration design discussions.

You'll Thrive Here If You…

  • Are energised by API design, integration work, and the systems-thinking problems that licensing creates.
  • Enjoy being one of two peer PMs whose work is deeply interdependent — you thrive on coordination without authority.
  • Are comfortable owning a roadmap end-to-end and holding yourself to a high reliability and quality bar.
  • Take initiative in a remote, async-first environment without needing daily check-ins.
  • Enjoy working across product teams and with external vendors and partners to gather requirements and translate them into concrete platform capabilities.

You Might Struggle Here If You…

  • Prefer consumer or GTM product work over technical platform PM work.
  • Are uncomfortable reading API specs, reviewing schema changes, or discussing auth flows.
  • Prefer a solo-ownership model and find peer-PM interdependence slow or frustrating.
  • Need daily in-person collaboration or rigid top-down planning structures.
