Job Description

Our client is a technology company solving payments problems for businesses. Their mission is to help businesses in Africa become profitable, envied, and loved. They provide a suite of products to help businesses accept payments online and offline, manage their operations, and grow their business. The team is driven by excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

Our client is looking for Product Managers who have built technical products or large-scale platforms at multi-country/global scale, are excited to deeply understand problem spaces, and love experimenting to find the best solutions for users.

You’re comfortable juggling many moving parts, obsessing over details, and taking delight in the payments landscape systems, processes, and technologies across multiple countries (consumer-facing and merchant products).

As a Product Manager, you’ll drive product innovation that helps merchants launch and scale in multiple markets, acting as the voice of the customer and building delightfully successful products that solve real pain points. You’ll work with Product Designers, Engineers, and other PMs who have a track record of shipping large-scale products serving millions of users across Africa and globally. The team is small and highly accomplished your ideas will be heard and will move the business.

Job Type: Permanent
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Workplace: Hybrid

Requirements

  • Background in computer science, software engineering, or data science (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years building and managing technical software products, including end-to-end launches across multiple countries/regions.

  • Proven experience in payments across markets: local payment methods, multi-currency, FX/settlement, reconciliation, taxes/invoicing, PCI, KYC/AML, data privacy, and varied regulatory environments.

  • Based in Nigeria with strong knowledge of African and global consumer/merchant markets; comfortable working across time zones.

  • Clear, empathetic communicatorverbally and in writing.

  • Deep and unrelenting customer focus; motivated to improve users’ lives.

  • Thrive in collaborative environments with diverse stakeholders and subject-matter experts.

  • Can turn incomplete or conflicting inputs into solid, actionable plans.

  • Will do what it takes to make the product and team successful (from writing a QA plan to tracing the root cause of a user issue).

  • Creative product thinker; partners well with engineering, analytics, marketing, design, and sales.

  • Obsessed with continuous improvement: can optimize a portfolio of small/medium/large releases not just net-new launches.

  • Evidence-based, data-driven decision-maker with excellent organization and prioritization skills.

  • Internationalization/localization (i18n/l10n) and pricing/packaging by market experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience on a financial services/payments platform operating in multiple regions.

  • Track record in cross-border payments, global acquiring, and partnerships with banks/PSPs/networks.

  • Startup experience or prior role as a software developer.

  • Exposure to risk/fraud, compliance tooling, or ML-driven decisioning.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous discovery with merchants across key African markets and selected global regions; synthesize insights into clear problems and opportunities.

  • Align teams on a shared vision; own a multi-country roadmap and sequence rollouts by impact, readiness, and regulatory complexity.

  • Lead product decisions across strategy, design, and technology from inception to launch and iterations.

  • Define, monitor, and analyze metrics (including geo-segmented KPIs) to guide improvements and run experiments across markets.

  • Own go-to-market for new countries/regions: localization, payment methods, multi-currency pricing/billing, tax compliance, and support readiness.

  • Work with legal/compliance on market-specific regulations (KYC/AML/PCI/privacy) and ensure launch readiness.

  • Build and manage external partnerships (banks, PSPs, card schemes, wallets) to unlock regional capabilities.

  • Document product decisions and plans; serve as the face of the product with partners and users.

  • Remove blockers, drive delivery, and communicate progress to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Represent our client at industry events and negotiations with high-value partners.
