The Role

The Product Manager – Data Community & FAIR Enablement will play a critical role within Amgen’s Enterprise Data Strategy and Engineering (EDSE) organization. This role sits at the intersection of data strategy, product management, and organizational engagement.

You will be responsible for building and scaling a connected, enterprise-wide data community that treats data as a strategic asset. This includes driving adoption of FAIR principles, improving data literacy, enabling reusable data products, and creating strong feedback loops between business, data, and engineering teams.

This role is ideal for a strong data-oriented product leader with excellent communication skills—someone who can translate complex data concepts into compelling narratives, influence at scale, and mobilize diverse stakeholders across a matrixed enterprise. Experience in consulting, corporate affairs, or enterprise change roles is highly valued.

What You Will Do

Data Community & Engagement Strategy

  • Define and execute an enterprise data community strategy aligned to Amgen’s data and digital priorities.
  • Build, grow, and sustain a connected internal data community across functions, regions, and roles.
  • Identify and enable community champions to co-lead initiatives, events, and adoption programs.
  • Foster collaboration across data engineers, data scientists, analysts, product teams, and business stakeholders.

FAIR & Data Literacy Enablement

  • Drive awareness, understanding, and adoption of FAIR data principles across the organization.
  • Develop and deliver data literacy initiatives focused on FAIR, data products, metadata, and reuse.
  • Position data as an enterprise asset by promoting best practices in data sharing, stewardship, and reuse.

Data Product Marketing & Go-to-Market

  • Act as the internal “marketer” for EDSE data capabilities, platforms, and data products.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies for data products and services, including messaging, value propositions, and success metrics.
  • Drive awareness and adoption of data tools, platforms, and standards across business units.
  • Track outcomes and impact of engagement efforts to continuously refine strategy.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with engineering, architecture, and business teams to ensure alignment between data strategy and business needs.
  • Gather, synthesize, and communicate customer insights to inform data product roadmaps and priorities.
  • Influence without authority across a complex, matrixed organization.

What We Expect of You

Core Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of data ecosystems, data products, and modern data platforms.
  • Experience working in or closely with the life sciences domain.

  • Strong customer mindset with a focus on value realization and adoption.
  • Experience developing business cases aligned to organizational strategy.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe).

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree with 11–15 years of Information/Technology Systems experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree with 12–17 years of Information/Technology Systems experience, or
  • Diploma with 15–20 years of Information/Technology Systems experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with FAIR data principles and data governance practices.
  • Experience with data and AI platforms, big data technologies, and cloud-based data solutions.
  • Background in consulting, corporate affairs, or enterprise transformation roles.
