Job Description

Job Purpose:

The HPE Storage Product Manager is responsible for driving the growth, profitability, and market share of the HPE Storage portfolio within the assigned territory. The role owns the product lifecycle, vendor relationship management, business planning, pipeline development, partner enablement, and go-to-market execution for HPE Storage solutions including:

  • HPE Alletra Storage
  • HPE GreenLake for Storage
  • HPE StoreOnce
  • HPE Zerto
  • HPE Data Services Cloud Console
  • HPE Data Protection & Cyber Resilience Solutions
  • HPE Private Cloud Business Edition (storage-related initiatives)

The Product Manager acts as the primary business owner for the HPE Storage portfolio, collaborating closely with sales, pre-sales, marketing, operations, and HPE teams to achieve revenue, margin, and market-share objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Business Management
  • Own the overall business performance of the HPE Storage portfolio.
  • Develop and execute annual business plans, GTM strategies, and growth initiatives.
  • Manage revenue, GP, backend rebates, and inventory targets.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies.
  • Identify new business opportunities and market expansion strategies.
  • Drive forecast accuracy and pipeline management.
  • Vendor Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for HPE Storage.
  • Establish strong working relationships with HPE business units and channel teams.
  • Conduct regular business reviews and performance tracking.
  • Manage vendor programs, rebates, MDF, incentives, and promotional activities.
  • Ensure compliance with vendor requirements and certifications.
  • Partner Development
  • Recruit and develop strategic storage-focused partners.
  • Drive partner activation and enablement initiatives.
  • Support partners with solution positioning, pricing strategy, and opportunity identification.
  • Conduct partner business planning and quarterly reviews.
  • Increase partner certifications and storage competency attainment.
  • Sales & Pipeline Development
  • Build and maintain a qualified sales pipeline.
  • Work closely with sales representatives to identify and close opportunities.
  • Support large opportunities through deal structuring and vendor engagement.
  • Lead pricing negotiations and special bid requests.
  • Drive Technology Refresh and competitive displacement campaigns.
  • Promote VMware modernization, AI-ready storage, and cyber resilience solutions.
  • Marketing & GTM Execution
  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns aligned with vendor objectives.
  • Drive workshops, roadshows, webinars, and executive briefings.
  • Work with marketing teams to maximize MDF utilization.
  • Promote key HPE initiatives including:
  • Freedom from VMware
  • Break the AI Bottleneck
  • Defense-in-Depth Cyber Resilience
  • Storage Refresh Programs
  • Solution Enablement
  • Develop strong knowledge across HPE Storage solutions.
  • Deliver product training and sales enablement programs.
  • Work with pre-sales teams to create reference architectures and solution playbooks.
  • Position storage solutions within Hybrid Cloud, Data Protection, AI, and Cyber Recovery environments.
  • Support demonstrations, customer workshops, and proof-of-concepts.
  • Operational Management
  • Manage inventory, backlog, pricing, and availability.
  • Monitor stock levels and inventory aging.
  • Work with procurement and vendor operations teams to optimize supply planning.
  • Ensure pricing governance and quote turnaround efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 4-6 years experience within IT distribution
  • Minimum education level required is a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Appropriate vendor product sales certifications
  • Strong leadership attributes

  • Sound business acumen
  • Ability to work with little direction
  • Capacity to lead vertial teams
  • Influence business outcomes without having direct control
