Founded in 2017 in New York, TESO Group is an Asian-inspired lifestyle retail company bringing premium Asian products and culture to the U.S. market. With brands including TESO LIFE, TESO X, and TESO Mini, we offer a curated mix of beauty, snacks, home goods, and trendy collectibles—delivering quality, value, and a unique shopping experience.
This position manages product information, reviews packaging compliance, and controls regulatory risks throughout the company’s product development and launch process. The goal is to ensure that products comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards from initial documentation and packaging design through importation and sale. Core duties include organizing and maintaining basic product data such as product name, specifications, ingredients, materials, net contents, country of origin, manufacturer, and warnings; applying for, generating, assigning, and tracking UPC barcodes; and providing the design, procurement, and supply chain teams with accurate, complete, ready-to-use product information.
The specialist also reviews packaging copy, label information, and legally required declarations for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. The role assesses regulatory requirements for food, cosmetics, general merchandise, and other categories, including but not limited to FDA food labeling and safety requirements, allergen declarations, nutrition information, import declarations, and related documentation. The specialist must continuously identify and flag potential compliance risks, coordinate corrective actions with suppliers, the Product Design Manager, and relevant departments, and take professional responsibility for final review conclusions and regulatory assessments.
Collect, verify, and organize basic product information, including product name, specifications, dimensions, net contents, ingredients, materials, country of origin, manufacturer, shelf life, storage conditions, instructions for use, and warnings. Establish standardized product records and ensure that data sources are clear, fields are complete, versions are consistent, and accurate information is shared promptly with design, procurement, supply chain, and other relevant teams.
Apply for, generate, assign, register, and maintain UPC barcodes. Maintain a complete UPC register and ensure each SKU is correctly matched to its barcode. Review barcode numbers, dimensions, placement, and scannability in packaging files to prevent duplicate use, incorrect assignment, or version confusion.
Review product names, claims and selling points, ingredients, specifications, net contents, nutrition information, allergen statements, directions for use, warnings, responsible-party details, and other legally required information on packaging. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Proofread packaging artwork for compliance and provide the product design team with clear revision instructions and final review conclusions.
Research and implement the laws, regulatory standards, and labeling requirements applicable in the product’s sales markets. Review product formulas, ingredients, packaging information, marketing claims, and conditions of sale for compliance. Focus areas include FDA food safety, food labeling, nutrition facts, allergens, food additives, cosmetics, and other relevant category requirements. Take appropriate responsibility for professional review conclusions.
Review manufacturer information, ingredient lists, test reports, qualification certificates, country-of-origin information, and other documents required for imported products. Work with procurement, supply chain, and customs-broker personnel to confirm that products meet U.S. import and sales requirements. Promptly request corrective action for missing documentation, conflicting information, or potential violations, and follow up with suppliers on supplements or corrections.
Identify compliance risks throughout product development, packaging, importation, and sales; maintain an issue list and follow corrective actions through closure. Collaborate with the Product Design Manager, Product Designer, procurement, supply chain, operations, and external suppliers. Communicate regulatory requirements, review conclusions, and risk items promptly. Escalate major issues or matters that cannot be independently assessed, and coordinate with external specialists or legal counsel when appropriate.
