Job Description

The Product Engineer II is responsible for designing and engineering furniture and cabinetry products that meet specific customer requirements while integrating with Stevens Industries’ existing product lines. This role is focused on application—not conceptual product development.

You will take customer dimensions and specifications and translate them into production-ready designs that flow efficiently through manufacturing and assembly. This position requires a strong understanding of how products are built, along with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues directly on the production floor. Attention to detail and practical problem-solving are critical to success in this role.

This role will also have the opportunity to leverage emerging AI tools to support design efficiency, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement within engineering and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer furniture and cabinetry products based on customer specifications and project requirements
  • Modify and adapt existing product designs to ensure compatibility with current product lines
  • Create detailed CAD drawings, models, and production documentation
  • Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, efficiency, and cost
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure designs move smoothly through fabrication and assembly
  • Troubleshoot design, programming, or production issues on the shop floor and implement solutions
  • Evaluate and improve existing designs based on manufacturing feedback and performance
  • Maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, and engineering records
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and production teams to meet timelines and customer expectations
  • Utilize AI tools, where appropriate, to assist with design iteration, problem-solving, and process improvements

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment (furniture, cabinetry, or similar industry preferred)
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production flow
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in both design and production environments
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) preferred but not required
  • Exposure to or interest in using AI tools to enhance engineering workflows is a plus
