Position Description

The VAVE Product Engineer reports to the Engineering Supervisor for the Data Center vertical. This candidate will work within the Engineering Department to design, develop, and document Data Center Cooling products manufactured by the Data Center team.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute assigned engineering launch activities for awarded business. This includes: release of design and drawings for the product for prototype and production, successful completion of all customer and regulatory required testing for customer acceptance in the field.
• Conduct the preliminary design for cost estimating and quoting for pursuit of VA/VE cost reductions and design improvements. This role is specifically responsible for engineering NRE, validation expenses, and should-cost estimates for materials.
• Maintain continuous supply of VA/VE initiatives to reduce product cost and improve manufacturability of responsible products. 
• Directly contribute to engineering launch activities for awarded VA/VE business. This includes: overseeing of customer submittals with all required documentation, release of design and drawings for the product for prototype and production, successful completion of all customer and regulatory required testing for customer acceptance in the field. Address any customer field concerns by developing engineered solutions to solve the issue and prevent recurrence.
• Evaluate and design electromechanical products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer and materials.
• Collaborate with designers to develop detailed CAD models and drawings of Data Center cooling solution
• Interface with other Modine regions, manufacturing locations, suppliers, and customers.
• Travel domestically up to 10%.

Required Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline
• 1+ years engineering experience.
• Strong fundamental background and/or experience in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, psychometrics, and design for manufacturing.
• Prior experience with heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, or other HVAC industry experience, including cosmetic or structural sheet metal design
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems and the ability to interpret FEA & CFD results
