Location: Tooele, Urah

Supports EJ Fabrication sourcing operations by translating customer requirements into fabrication-ready product designs, drawings, and shop documentation, and by partnering with Sales and Manufacturing to improve product quality and manufacturability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Evaluate customer requests for new custom products; prepare standards, drawings (SolidWorks), and job quotes.
  • Reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager, but takes direction and guidance from the Engineering Manager.
  • Collaborate with sales and customers to provide engineering consultation and support on our various products.
  • Design and implement new products with a focus on manufacturability; create BOMs, implement standards, and support the design of tooling and fixturing for manufacturing.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost/profitability evaluations for new products.
  • Establish and manage product quality inspection, audit, and review processes from quote to production.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and support customer complaint investigations.
  • Train and coach employees on continuous improvement and quality systems tools.
  • Promote safety awareness and ensure compliance with organizational safety expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology) or a combination of an Associate’s degree with relevant drafting and fabrication experience.
  • 1–2 years of related experience required; 5+ years in a fabrication environment preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to conceptualize verbal project directives and translate them into technical designs.
  • Skilled in drafting design and shop drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet creation and data analysis.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and manufacturing processes
  • Basic programming knowledge (e.g., Python, VBA) is a plus.
