Moog Aircraft Group is seeking a Product Engineer to join our Product Engineering Group based at our site in Wolverhampton.

The Product Engineer provides Engineering support to specific product lines which can be of a more complex program in nature and takes responsibility in providing technical guidance to Assembly and Test personnel or others in need of their product knowledge.

The Product Engineer provides support for Aircraft production programs both at the Design Center (DC) and the Production Center (PC). In the role the primary areas of responsibility include supporting production assembly and test areas by resolving issues, maintaining product integrity, and influencing product cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing clear production assembly/test instructions to operations personnel to maintain efficient production. These instructions include formal Work Instructions, Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP / PAT) and engineering memos.
  • Supporting the evaluation and implementation of equipment to meet production requirements for operations department. These include assembly fixtures and tools, production flow-line systems, and test equipment.
  • Assuring and maintaining product integrity, and quality in production products. The Product Engineer does this by collaborating with other Moog resources to resolve production problems, performing Material Review Board (MRB) analyses, and assisting in evaluation for possible notice of escape (NOE) to customers.
  • Tracking key company metrics including, but not limited to, first pass yield (FPY), and product cost objectives (PCAS) to maintain and improve company performance and goals. These metrics may be used to support the goals of other departments.
  • Supporting the facilitation of design changes driven by the above items by redlining drawings, attending Change Review Board (CRB) and starting the EO process.
  • Identify areas for producibility and quality improvements in production assembly/test and product design. Initiate and lead these changes and plan for schedule impacts.
  • Coordinating and interfacing with internal/external customers and/or suppliers on complex projects or issues.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering + one year relevant technical experience
  • Alternately, Masters Degree in Engineering
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify producibility and quality improvements in assembly, test, and product design
  • Capacity to make engineering judgments and produce technical justifications
  • Ability to work directly from engineering drawings, process specifications, and test procedures
  • Knowledge in SAP/Solumina is desirable
  • Experience coordinating with customers and suppliers on complex projects is desirable
  • Experience in Aerospace or other regulated industry is desirable
  • General knowledge of Root Cause / Corrective Action, Lean principles, project planning, data acquisition, and analysis
