This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) projects, guiding products from initial concept through to commercial launch. You will work cross functionally with internal teams, customers, suppliers and industry experts to deliver scientifically robust and commercially successful solutions.

The Role

As a Product Development Scientist, you'll be involved in both New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD), supporting projects across the full product lifecycle. From researching emerging technologies and ingredients to formulation, validation, technical transfer and launch, you'll be instrumental in developing innovative, science-led solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity for a scientifically minded professional who enjoys combining research, problem-solving and hands-on laboratory work with cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research industry trends, emerging technologies, ingredients and regulatory developments to identify future opportunities.
  • Conduct competitor product analysis and scientific literature reviews to support product innovation.
  • Develop business cases for new products and technology implementation.
  • Formulate products using established and emerging techniques, ensuring efficacy, safety and quality standards are met.
  • Create product specifications, dosage recommendations and evidence-based efficacy strategies.
  • Design and deliver stability studies, palatability trials and clinical trial activities including protocol development, execution and reporting.
  • Support technical transfer from laboratory scale to manufacturing, including pilot trials and process validation.
  • Produce technical documentation such as batch manufacturing records, reports and supporting regulatory documentation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, key opinion leaders and internal stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes.
  • Provide technical support to commercial, regulatory and marketing teams.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about scientific innovation and product development, with the confidence to work both independently and collaboratively.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in a science-related discipline (minimum 2:1 or equivalent).
  • At least one year of product development or relevant industry experience.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and communicate findings to a range of audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong numeracy skills and exceptional attention to detail.

What We Offer

  • Profit share scheme after two years' service.
  • Private healthcare after 12 months' service, extending to family and dependants after three years.
  • Enhanced pension contributions increasing with length of service.
  • Opportunities for professional development, industry event attendance and occasional international travel.

Why Join Tangerine?

This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of product innovation within a growing organisation where your scientific expertise will directly influence new and existing product success. You'll collaborate with talented colleagues, gain exposure to the full product development lifecycle and contribute to exciting projects that have a real impact on the business and its customers.
