Product Development Engineer
The Product Development unit within Technology Development, with our office located in Massa, has the responsibility to develop new and innovative solutions to be sold to customer located worldwide. This team has in fact a global PD responsibility.
What you can expect in this role
As Product Development Engineer within the Product Development Italy team in Massa, you will be a part of a motivated and fast paced team that has the ambition to create real customer value by combining the SKF technical knowledge with true leadership. The team is spread between the two SKF factories of Massa and Airasca; this position in particular will be located in Massa, where some of the product lines we are responsible of are manufactured, offering an unique opportunity to fully experience how product specifications are impacting the manufacturing process.
Being in this exciting and global role and working with different stakeholders, creates the need to handle a multitude of different tasks: our way of responding to this is to design systems/processes or automations that are tailored for our needs and allowing to deliver the best quality with less possible effort. As we say: “if you have to do it more than twice, then it’s time to automate it”.
Like Product Development team we have daily contact with PD and PE (Product Engineering) offices, factories, sales, Product Line Managers and people in SKF from all over the world.
What we are looking for
What we are looking for you to bring to this team is your ability to deliver product development projects in line with specifications, quality, and timelines, transforming requirements into solid technical solutions. You will contribute to continuous improvement by supporting problem-solving and innovation activities, as well as participating in feasibility assessments and providing technical insights.
In this role, collaboration is key: you will work closely with peers, Technical Owners (TOs), and Development Portfolio Leads (DPLs), ensuring alignment while following established guidelines and processes, and actively sharing knowledge within the team.
From a technical standpoint, you will perform design calculations, material selection, and tolerance analysis for relevant products and components, as well as create CAD models and drawings when required. You will plan and support prototype testing, analyze results, and implement design improvements, collaborating with manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to optimize designs for production. Additionally, you will provide technical support to both internal stakeholders and customers, participate in design reviews and risk assessments, and analyze competitor products to identify new technical solutions and performance improvements.

Our offer
For this position, the starting point of the salary range is a gross annual salary (base salary) of € 35.000, with a compensation package that includes variable components, company-related bonuses and benefits. The National Labor Contract applied is “CCNL Industria Metalmeccanica e della installazione impianti”.
The final offer will be determined based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, such as relevant marked data, professional experience, and technical skills.
Some additional information
The location for this position is Massa (Italy), on local contract. It does, however, require that you are able and willing to travel.
