Job Description

Product Development Engineer is responsible for new product development and manufacturing technical support to grow Momentive Technologies’ Ceramic Powder Business for thermal management. Thermal management is paramount to AI devices, power electronics, electric vehicles and batteries to improve performance and lifetime.

Responsibilities:

• Develop new Spherical Alumina and other thermally conductive powders, coatings products and processes based on technology roadmap utilizing technical expertise in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science to meet new market/application demands.
• Responsibilities include identifying market & customer requirements, literature & IP research, process & product concept development, feasibility testing, prototyping, pilot testing, and scaling.
• Expected to lead CPS new product development projects with support from cross-functional teams, external collaborators, and validation partners.
• Apply chemical & material science fundamentals in research & development projects, and apply project management skills in planning, budgeting, time management, resource allocation, and risk management.
• Generate intellectual properties such as technical reports, operation procedures, patents, and technical bulletins.
• Apply Six Sigma methodology, statistical analysis, and characterization tools to analyze process yield & product quality.
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or higher education in Ceramics Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Material Science
• Knowledge and experience in surface chemistry, powder processing, polymer science, thermal/mechanical characterizations or polymer compounding.
• Proficient in statistical methods including gage analysis, design of experiment, hypothesis testing, and process control
• Project management experience including effective planning and prioritization of projects to ensure on time delivery of new product/process technologies
• Proven interaction skills to work with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, sales, suppliers, and customers
• Experience with conducting hands-on experiments and working in an industrial environment, mindful of safety protocols including PPE, safety reviews, and change-management.
• A strong sense of accountability, urgency, and self-direction
• Thermal Interface Material related background or knowledge.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with new product development using Stage-Gate process
• Five years related experience or strong co-op program involvement
• Six Sigma certification and experience working with statistical software such as Minitab
