Cimcool in Europe, with its European headquarters in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands, manufactures and supplies a range of metalworking products, including water-based and straight oil coolants for metal cutting and grinding, as well as formulations for numerous other types of metalworking applications such as cleaning and forming. Sales and distribution takes place through its own sales branches in various European countries as well as through a Distributor network. Product development is based on customer and market feedback leading to continuous improvement in current products as well as new formulations.
The Product Development Chemist operates within the Engineering & Development organization. The product development chemist is responsible for development, improvement and maintenance of various chemical products with the initial focus on metal working fluids.
Duties and Responsibilities
Planning, organizing, and executing product development and research projects.
Mining of ideas, feasibility studies, and developing chemistry related to the application area.
Extensive laboratory formulation work.
Testing & validation of products meeting performance, cost and HSE specifications.
Evaluation of raw materials to improve performance, or reduce cost.
Responsible for maintenance of products within the assigned application area.
Supporting production in scale up of new developed formulas.
Investigating off spec batches, recommending modifications or ways to optimize existing blending equipment as well as researching new blending equipment/processes as needed.
On-site customer visits to better understand customer requirement.

Knowledge and Education
Master or PhD degree in chemistry
Preferably knowledge of emulsifier systems and lubricant formulations
Strong chemical knowledge
Fluent in English (knowledge of the Dutch language recommended)
