Job Description

INTRODUCTION

At Burberry, we believe creativity opens spaces. Our purpose is to unlock the power of imagination to push boundaries and open new possibilities for our people, our customers and our communities. This is the core belief that has guided Burberry since it was founded in 1856 and is central to how we operate as a company today.

We aim to provide an environment for creative minds from different backgrounds to thrive, bringing a wide range of skills and experiences to everything we do. As a purposeful, values-driven brand, we are committed to being a force for good in the world as well, creating the next generation of sustainable luxury for customers, driving industry change and championing our communities.

JOB PURPOSE

We are hiring a Product Developer, Flou to lead the development of beautifully crafted products from initial design concept through to final handover. Working across dresses, gowns, skirts, blouses, tops and other soft-sewn garments, you will bring together creative vision, technical expertise and commercial awareness. At Burberry, you will collaborate with Design, Atelier, Raw Materials, specialist vendors and cross-functional partners to deliver exceptional quality, craftsmanship, cost and timing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the end-to-end development of assigned Flou products and special projects, from design launch through sampling, fittings, approval and final handover.
  • Coordinate Design, Atelier, Raw Materials, vendors and cross-functional teams, ensuring requirements, decisions and next steps are communicated clearly.
  • Translate creative concepts into accurate development briefs while protecting design intent, craftsmanship and product quality.
  • Manage critical paths and product information, maintaining accurate records of samples, amendments, approvals, costs and development status within PLM and relevant trackers.
  • Identify technical, commercial and delivery risks early, proposing practical solutions that balance creative ambition, feasibility, quality, timing and cost.
  • Review development costs and opportunities for efficiency, working with partners to minimise unnecessary sampling and rework without compromising the product.

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Experience in product development within luxury, high-end fashion or a comparable product environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Flou, soft-sewn or womenswear products, supported by an understanding of garment construction, fit, fabrication and luxury finishing.
  • Experience managing products through concept, sampling, fittings, approvals and handover, including multiple developments with changing priorities.
  • An organised and detail-focused approach, with the ability to maintain oversight of critical paths, product data and time-sensitive activity.
  • A collaborative communication style, with the confidence to build trusted relationships and offer constructive recommendations to creative, technical and operational partners.
  • Commercial awareness and practical problem-solving skills; experience using PLM systems, working with ateliers or specialist vendors, handling complex fabrics, or communicating in Italian would be beneficial.

About Burberry

Born from innovation, Burberry is a global luxury brand with a rich British heritage.

Founded in 1856, our brand is underpinned by our founder’s passion for the outdoors. Thomas Burberry invented the innovative rain-ready fabric gabardine to protect explorers from the elements. In doing so, he created the foundation for the iconic Burberry trench coat, which remains core to the business even today.

Guided by our history of exploration and our shared belief that ‘creativity opens spaces’, our purpose is to unlock the power of imagination to push boundaries and open new possibilities for our people, our customers and our communities.

As a values-driven brand, we are committed to creating the next generation of sustainable luxury and believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to fulfilling our purpose. Fostering an inclusive culture where differences are valued and embraced enables us to be more creative, engaged and make a more meaningful contribution to the world around us.
