Senior Product Designer, AI Wearables

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Product Designer to help shape the future of AI-powered wearable experiences. This role focuses on designing intuitive, multimodal interactions for next-generation display glasses, combining visual interfaces, voice, audio, and gesture-based experiences. The ideal candidate is an AI-native designer who thrives in ambiguity, demonstrates exceptional visual craft, and can translate emerging technologies into meaningful user experiences.

Location & Work Arrangement

• Hybrid role based in either Burlingame, CA or Seattle, WA
• In-office attendance required Tuesday, Thursday, and one additional weekday each week

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex product design initiatives from concept through launch, driving clarity and direction in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Design user experiences optimized for wearable display devices, considering factors such as glanceability, legibility, latency, environmental conditions, and hardware constraints.
• Create seamless experiences across multiple interaction modalities, including visual displays, voice, audio, and gesture-based interfaces.
• Design AI-driven experiences that adapt to user needs and preferences while leveraging the unique capabilities of wearable technology.
• Develop user-centered solutions grounded in customer needs, research insights, and product goals.
• Partner closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and hardware teams to define opportunities and deliver impactful features.
• Establish scalable design patterns and systems that enable consistency across the broader product ecosystem.
• Build high-fidelity prototypes to communicate design concepts, validate ideas, and influence stakeholders.
• Present and defend design decisions to cross-functional partners and leadership audiences.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in product, UX, or UI design.
• Exceptional visual design skills with a strong eye for detail, hierarchy, and craftsmanship.
• Advanced proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Framer, Principle, or similar platforms.
• Demonstrated understanding of AI concepts and experience applying them to user experiences.
• Experience designing across multiple interaction modalities, including screens, voice, audio, or spatial interfaces.
• Proven ability to lead large, complex projects with limited direction.
• Strong portfolio showcasing interaction design, visual design, problem-solving, and end-to-end product thinking.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to operate independently and drive work forward in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing for wearable devices, smart glasses, AR, VR, XR, or other emerging technology platforms.
• Familiarity with scalable design systems and component libraries.
• Experience leveraging user research and product data to inform design decisions.
• Track record of shipping innovative consumer technology products.
• Experience creating and presenting high-fidelity prototypes for executive and stakeholder review.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Menlo Park, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $110.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
