For the Design department based in Oudenaarde, Belgium, Samsonite is looking for a creative, hands-on and forward-thinking

Product Designer - Hardside

As a key member of our Hardside Design team in a multinational setting, you will help shape the future of Samsonite’s hardside collections from first idea to final production. An on-site presence at the physical workplace in Oudenaarde is required 4 days a week, with 1 day from home.

You will play an instrumental role across the full product development process, translating creative concepts into commercially relevant, technically feasible and beautifully executed travel solutions. You will build strong relationships with Product Managers, Product Development, external suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure clear alignment and seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Concept and Creative Direction: Create distinctive product concepts, design directions, color palettes, graphics, illustrations and material proposals for hardside and hybrid luggage solutions.
• Prototype Development: Translate ideas into sketches, mock-ups, prototypes and supporting materials that enable timely decision-making by design, development and marketing teams.
• Innovation and Trend Exploration: Investigate new materials, technologies, construction ideas and market trends through fairs, design and fashion references, supplier input and broader cultural inspiration.
• Technical Execution: Prepare accurate 2D and 3D technical files for product sampling, development and supplier communication.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Product Managers, Purchasing Managers, Quality Managers and suppliers to support smooth project follow-up and successful execution.
• Design Communication: Prepare clear design packages and persuasive presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including team and product development meetings.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Portfolio: Strong portfolio with a keen sense of color and trim.
• Software Proficiency: Excellent knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Good knowledge of 3D-CAD and rendering software (Rhinoceros + Keyshot is a plus).
• Creative Skills: Strong sketching and creative abilities.
• Industry Interest: High interest in product design, fashion industry, and trend-sensitive items.
• Travel: Willingness to travel locally and globally to implement projects with subcontractors.
• Innovative Thinking: Ability to think out of the box and be proactive with problem-solving skills.
• Pressure Management: Ability to perform well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
• Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English.
• Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and computer skills.
• Multicultural Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a multicultural environment.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, being a strong team player.
