Your Job

You will own the full product design and development lifecycle for busbar power-distribution solutions — from concept through production release. Using mechanical, electrical, thermal, and manufacturing engineering principles you will deliver high-performance, compliant, and cost-competitive busbar products by partnering closely with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams

Our Team

You will be part of the PSBU, CCS busbar engineering group that designs power distribution products for industrial and data-center applications. The team works cross-functionally with sourcing, manufacturing sites, test labs, and customer engineering teams to take new products from NPI to production readiness.

What You Will Do

  • Lead end-to-end design and development of rigid, laminated, flexible, and hybrid busbar solutions to meet electrical, mechanical, thermal, and reliability targets.
  • Define and verify electrical/mechanical requirements and produce engineering calculations (current carrying capacity, temperature rise, voltage drop, creepage/clearance, insulation coordination).
  • Select materials, finishes, plating, and insulation systems aligned to performance, manufacturability, cost, and standards.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and cost-optimization discussions with manufacturing and sourcing to ensure production readiness.
  • Partner with manufacturing and suppliers to support prototype builds, tooling development, process validation, and scale-up activities.
  • Apply GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure robust, manufacturable designs and reduce assembly variation.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, DFMEA/design risk assessments, technical reviews, and cross-functional engineering decisions.
  • Maintain EBOMs, CAD models, drawings, engineering specs, test plans, validation reports, and PLM (Teamcenter or equivalent) product structures to support controlled product release.
  • Ensure product compliance with customer requirements and applicable UL, IEC, and internal engineering standards.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of product design and development experience with electromechanical/power distribution products (busbars, sheet metal, connectors, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience in busbar design for high current and high voltage power distribution applications.
  • Knowledge of electrical fundamentals and the behavior of copper and aluminum conductors, insulation systems, plating/coatings, and common manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with NPI processes, conducting DFMEA/design risk assessments, and working within a PLM environment (Teamcenter or equivalent).

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with data-center power distribution systems and power-shelf applications.
  • Practical experience with FEA and thermal simulation, including setting boundary conditions and interpreting electrical/thermal performance reports.
  • Strong applied knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and hands-on familiarity with manufacturing/process constraints.
  • Prior experience interfacing directly with manufacturing sites, suppliers, and customers for prototype builds and production launches.
  • Familiarity with UL, IEC, and other customer-driven regulatory or product standards
