PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To design, develop and implement into production precision high volume products that meet or exceed customer expectations. This applies to new products as well as modifications and extensions to existing products.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop new product designs and handling all phases required to bring concepts into production.
2. Actively participate in assisting manufacturing and quality in failure analysis.
3. Verification and validation of product design. Generate and check manufacturing drawings for completeness and accuracy.Perform engineering tests and submits product for screen and qualification testing in the reliability lab.
4. Coordinate new product development, debug and release. Follow all product development steps, supply tooling groups with necessary drawings for quoting and tool build.Assist and support manufacturing in the debug process.Responsible for follow-up, documentation, publishing and expediting all action items of a new product program.
5. Prepare and follow engineering change requests (ECR) per document control procedures.
6. Interface with internal departments (manufacturing, quality, lab, sales and marketing) to ensure design objectives are met in a timely manner and assist by providing product information, engineering samples and technical advice.
7. Interface with suppliers for buy & resell (private label) opportunities
8. Interface with suppliers and customers.
9. Interface with US based design, development, and marketing teams.
EDUCATION
Required:Bachelor's degree in engineering (ME, EE, etc.)
Preferred:ME
WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Required:2+ years design experience.
Knowledge of drafting standards and design layout
Preferred:3+ years in connector product design experience
Design experience in precision components, including the following areas: molding, stamping, plating, insert molding, and assembly
NX CAD Software
Proficiency in Tolerance Analysis
Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
SKILLS:
Required:CAD skills (2D and 3D)
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely
Good English communication skills: verbal and written
Willingness to work as part of a global team
Preferred:Previous experience with working in a team environment where the focus is on the larger organizational goal versus individual concerns
Experience in failure analysis and root cause analysis techniques such as 8D & 7 step process
OTHER:Some travel may be required, as necessary
