Job Description


Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in consumer electronic product design, manufacturing processes, tooling, and Design for Excellence (DFx) for mass production.
  • Experience working with suppliers and Joint Development Manufacturer (JDM) partners on mechanical/optical products from NPI to high-volume production.
  • Experience working with at least one CAD program for mechanical design and simulation (ex. NX, SolidWorks, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in validating designs for the intended user, running trials and implementing feedback to improve product performance/experience.
  • Background in designing wearable or consumer electronic products or medical devices.
  • Exposure to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and designing for product robustness.
  • Excellent communicator and problem solver with the ability to form effective cross-functional relationships and communicate product design/mechanical requirements clearly to suppliers, partners and stakeholders.

Canada: $166000 - $171000 (CAD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Design internal and external components and modules, integrating optical modules and sensors into form factor enclosures with tight tolerances, from prototype to production.
  • Create and review technical drawings and procurement documents for all components and assemblies.
  • Develop design configurations of custom components such that manufacturing, inventory and order flow processes are optimized.
  • Establish component/module evaluation plans (First Article Inspection (FAI) inspection and verification) for functional performance and reliability including Design of Experiments (DOE) to isolate critical parameters for developing analysis.
  • Oversee supplier/partners of final device/product, subsystems and/or individual part design from concept to production.
