Job Description

About the Role

We’re looking for an exceptional, multi-faceted Product Counsel to join the Delivery Legal team and play a key role in supporting Uber’s delivery and logistics businesses. As we scale our fast-growth on-demand delivery offering, Uber Direct, and expand its capabilities into new areas of logistics, including last mile, you will be at the forefront of Uber’s mission to enable local commerce.

The Delivery Legal team is a critical business partner as we scale a global platform that enables millions of consumers and merchants to get (almost) anything delivered - from everyday essentials to unexpected delights. In this role, you’ll offer strategic counsel to Product, Operations, Strategy, Engineering, and Sales teams to help launch new features, enter new markets, and build deep integrations with enterprise partners and merchants around the world.

This is an opportunity to tackle novel, complex problems at the intersection of technology, commerce, and regulation - while helping execute on some of Uber’s most important strategic bets. If you’re excited about shaping the future of local, on-demand delivery and want to have an outsized impact at global scale, we welcome you to apply.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a trusted product counsel to teams building B2B white-label delivery, last-mile delivery, and end-to-end logistics products and operations.
  • Partner closely with Product, Operations, regional legal teams, and other cross-functional teams to advise on product design, business and operational models, and launches across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Develop practical, risk-balanced legal strategies that enable innovation and growth while navigating evolving laws and regulations applicable to delivery, shipping, logistics, and platform businesses.
  • Lead legal reviews of new products and features across the Uber platform, supporting consumers, merchants, and earners, and coordinating global reviews with regional legal teams, from early design through launch.
  • Provide strategic advice on a broad range of complex legal issues, including consumer protection, privacy, commercial law, intellectual property, competition and regulatory matters affecting delivery and logistics.
  • Be a strong communicator and collaborator on a high-performing, diverse team to achieve our legal and business priorities.
  • Draft and advise on commercial contract terms and conditions (up to 25% of time), disclosures, FAQs, legal disclaimers, and policies governing Uber products and services.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of legal experience in private practice, government, and/or in-house (or a minimum of 4 years total legal experience, including at least 1 year at Uber).
  • J.D. and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising technology, shipping, logistics, marketplace, or other operationally complex businesses. Familiarity with logistics-specific regulatory frameworks (such as freight brokerage, carrier/shipper liabilities, sortation, or distribution-network compliance) is a plus.
  • Experience advising on legal issues relating to independent contractor models, particularly in logistics, delivery, or other platform-based businesses.
  • Experience supporting the end-to-end development, launch, and scaling of logistics-focused technology products, operational models, or logistics programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex or ambiguous legal and regulatory requirements into actionable product and operational guidance - especially within rapidly evolving global markets.
  • Sell-side B2B commercial contract drafting and negotiating experience.
  • A track record of building strong partnerships with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to guide novel or first-of-their-kind products and initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical and legal skills, mature judgment, innovative thinking and an ability to anticipate issues and think several steps ahead.
  • A strong sense of ownership, curiosity, and willingness to dive into unfamiliar problems, develop expertise quickly, and drive matters to resolution.
  • Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability.
  • Enthusiasm about Uber and our mission!

About Uber

We are Uber. The go-getters. The kind of people who are relentless about our mission to help people go anywhere and get anything and earn their way. Movement is what we power. It’s our lifeblood. It runs through our veins. It’s what gets us out of bed each morning. It pushes us to constantly reimagine how we can move better. For you. For all the places you want to go. For all the things you want to get. For all the ways you want to earn. Across the entire world. In real time. At the incredible speed of now.

The idea for Uber was born on a snowy night in Paris in 2008, and ever since then our DNA of reimagination and reinvention carries on. We’ve grown into a global platform powering flexible earnings and the movement of people and things in ever expanding ways. We’ve gone from connecting rides on 4 wheels to 2 wheels to 18-wheel freight deliveries. From takeout meals to daily essentials to prescription drugs to just about anything you need at any time and earning your way. From drivers with background checks to real-time verification, safety is a top priority every single day. At Uber, the pursuit of reimagination is never finished, never stops, and is always just beginning.
