Job Description

As Product Counsel, you will serve as a trusted advisor to product, engineering, commercial and other cross-functional teams, partnering with them throughout the product lifecycle to develop, launch and scale technology and telecom products and services. You will translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical product, commercial and operational solutions that enable innovation while managing risk. The role will support products and services including Network APIs, CPaaS, messaging, voice, mobile identity, fraud prevention, authentication, digital identity, data products, platform services and other technology-driven services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with product, engineering, commercial and other cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle to identify legal and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical product solutions, controls and guidance.
  • Advise on privacy, data protection, telecom and technology regulatory requirements relevant to the design, development, launch and operation of products and services.
  • Identify and assess legal, regulatory and commercial risks associated with products and services, and work with business and technical teams to develop practical mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain legal guidance, standards, playbooks and processes that help product and business teams operationalize regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor developments in privacy, telecom and technology regulation and translate emerging requirements into actionable guidance for product and business teams.
  • Support product launches and international expansion by assessing country-specific requirements, identifying legal blockers and developing practical paths to launch.
  • Advise on go-to-market models and commercial structures to ensure they align with product functionality, regulatory requirements and business objectives.
  • Draft, review and negotiate product, technology and commercial agreements supporting product commercialization, strategic partnerships and product delivery.
  • Provide practical training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory requirements affecting products and services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • J.D., LL.B., or equivalent law degree, and admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience in a technology-driven environment, such as a technology or telecom company, digital platform, SaaS business or law firm.
  • Strong experience advising on privacy, data protection, telecom, technology regulation or other regulated digital products and services.
  • Ability to understand technical architectures, product and data flows, and business models, and assess their legal and regulatory implications.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with product, engineering and business teams throughout the product lifecycle and translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical solutions.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex technology and commercial agreements, including product, platform and data-related arrangements.
  • Strong legal and business judgment, with the ability to identify, assess and communicate risk clearly and develop practical mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of global privacy and data protection frameworks, including GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, India’s DPDP Act and other major privacy regimes.
  • Strong knowledge of EU telecom and communications regulation, including the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC), ePrivacy rules and related requirements governing communications services and telecom data.
  • Experience supporting products or services across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Privacy certification such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT or similar.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled products and emerging technology regulation.
