Finance (Asia ex-Japan) Overview

Finance Asia ex-Japan provides support to the Sales & Trading Front Office and ensures that business activities are carried out in an efficient, controlled, risk-free and timely manner. The Asia ex-Japan region has over 150 people based in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan

IWM BFC Function Overview:

The International Wealth Management (IWM) Business Finance & Control (BFC) team is like Private Banking Finance providing support to IWM business covering a wide range of products across different areas of Finance in based in Singapore. The team (within BFC) at Nomura goes beyond the core Product Control responsibilities and acts as a key Finance advisory function to the business and senior management.

Areas of responsibility:

We are seeking an experienced Vice President to join our International Wealth Management Finance team. This role will be responsible for financial management, strategic planning, and business analytics supporting IWM business. The successful candidate will partner with senior business leaders to drive profitability, enhance financial controls, and support business growth initiatives. Key responsibilities includes

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the IWM business
  • Prepare and analyse profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and key performance metrics
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process, including variance analysis and commentary
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial deliverables to senior management and stakeholders
  • Coordinate across Finance for consolidated reporting and regulatory submissions

Business Partnership & Strategy

  • Serve as a strategic finance partner to IWM business management team and product leads
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions
  • Conduct profitability analysis by client segment, product, and relationship manager
  • Support new business enablement and transaction committees with financial modelling
  • Identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost optimization

Performance Analytics & Management

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive dashboards and KPI tracking frameworks
  • Analyse client acquisition costs, lifetime value, and portfolio profitability metrics
  • Monitor Assets Under Management (AUM), Net New Money (NNM), and revenue trends
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking and industry analysis
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership and business heads

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and internal controls
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements specific to wealth management businesses
  • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams on financial implications of regulatory changes
  • Maintain robust documentation and audit trails for all financial processes

Team Leadership

  • Develop a team of finance professionals in both on and offshore
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Treasury, Regulatory Reporting, Risk, Operations, Middle Office and Technology teams
  • Mentor junior team members and support their career growth

Professional Requirements & Experience:

Education and Professional Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics or related field – MBA, CFA, CPA preferred
  • Professional certifications in financial analysis or wealth management is a plus

Experience

  • 8+ years of finance experience, with at least 5 years in Private Banking, Wealth Management or Asset Management
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership or team management role
  • Demonstrated experience with financial planning, analysis and business performance management
  • Proven track record of partnering with business leaders and influencing strategic decisions

Technical Skills & Knowledge Requirement

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and other digital tools is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with banking/wealth management systems (e.g., Avaloq)
  • Strong understanding of wealth management products (investment products & advisory across asset classes, portfolio management, lending) and risk management
  • Understanding of wealth management fee structures and revenue models
  • Understanding of Accounting and Regulatory rules (Basel III, IFRS, liquidity requirement, capital adequacy) will be an added advantage
