Job Description

A key Optimus client is seeking a Product Control Leader to support its commodity finance function within a fast-paced LNG and natural gas trading environment. This role sits on the trade floor and partners closely with Commercial, Risk, Operations, and Finance teams to oversee product control activities across gas supply, LNG, and liquids.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a small team of product control analysts, driving performance, mentorship, and process improvement
  • Oversee daily P&L, position reporting, and valuation across natural gas, LNG, and related commodities
  • Ensure a strong controls environment, including SOX compliance and end-to-end process integrity
  • Act as subject matter expert for ETRM systems, supporting transaction capture, valuation, and reporting enhancements
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant commodity operations and financial reporting
  • Support month-end close processes and validation of commodity valuations

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or other relevant discipline. MBA or CFA (nice to have, not required)
  • 4-8 years of experience in commodity product control or mid-office within North American energy markets (Natural Gas required, LNG a plus)
  • Strong experience with ETRM systems, P&L analytics, and trading support (natural gas required; LNG experience a plus)
  • Proven ability to work across front, mid, and back office while maintaining strong controls and independence
  • Prior leadership or team management experience preferred

Key Skills:

  • Deep understanding of commodity transactions, including gas supply, transportation, storage, and LNG agreements
  • Strong risk, valuation, and financial reporting expertise
  • Ability to translate complex trading activity into clear, actionable insights
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Systems-oriented mindset with experience improving reporting and analytics tools (Experience with Python, PowerBI, Power Automate, etc. are a plus)
