Job Description

At Eaton, we’re committed to improving the quality of life and the environment through intelligent power management technologies. With operations in over 175 countries, we help customers manage electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical power more efficiently, safely, and sustainably. Our culture is built on innovation, inclusion, and a shared purpose to make what matters work.

As Product Configuration & BOM Engineer within the Heinemann Product Line, you will serve as the central technical authority for the creation, validation, and lifecycle management of Bills of Materials (BOMs) You will ensure that product structures are technically accurate, manufacturable, and fully compliant with SAP and industrial standards, while supporting both internal stakeholders and, when required, external customers with part number definitions and configuration guidance.

Acting as a key interface between Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and SAP Master Data, you will ensure consistency, traceability, and data integrity across the entire product lifecycle. You will also lead and support the transition from legacy systems to an equivalent modern IT tool (e.g., SAP, BidManager), including knowledge transfer and training of internal teams. Additionally, you will provide backup and technical support to Application Engineering activities when relevant, contributing to overall operational continuity and customer satisfaction.

Definitions:

  • Heinemann it refers to a specific Eaton product line focused on hydraulic‑magnetic circuit breakers and power distribution solutions.
  • EBOM(Engineering Bill of Materials) The EBOM is the design-oriented BOM created by Engineering. It reflects the product as designed, it is based on functional and technical structure. Focuses on what the product is (components, assemblies, subassemblies) and does not necessarily consider manufacturing constraints.
  • MBOM(Manufacturing Bill of Materials): The MBOM is the production-oriented BOM used by Manufacturing. It reflects the product as built in the factory and is derived from the EBOM but adapted to manufacturing reality. It includes Manufacturing steps/Assembly groupings/Alternative or approved components/Packaging or consumables if needed. It focuses on how the product is produced.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the end-to-end creation, structuring, and maintenance of Manufacturing BOMs (MBOMs) in SAP for the Heinemann product portfolio, ensuring accurate and reliable representation of product design, manufacturing processes, and approved components and variants.
  • Lead BOM validation activities prior to release, ensuring completeness, technical accuracy, consistency, and manufacturability in full alignment with industrial and SAP standards.
  • Drive BOM lifecycle management, including updates and engineering changes through Change Master and Engineering Change
  • Records (ECR), guaranteeing traceability, version control, and audit compliance.
  • Ensure a robust transition from EBOM to MBOM, translating engineering definitions into industrialized, production-ready product structures without loss of data integrity.
  • Act as the central authority for BOM integrity, ensuring strict alignment between BOM structures, material master data, and routings across SAP systems.
  • Define and govern product configurations and part numbers (PNs), ensuring all structures comply with Eaton and SAP naming conventions and support scalable, consistent product architecture.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for BOM architecture, product structures, and variant management, providing clear guidance to Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Sales Operations.
  • Support new product introductions, product extensions, and configuration changes, ensuring accurate and timely BOM setup as a critical enabler for production and supply chain readiness.
  • Provide internal and occasional external technical support on BOM-related topics, including configuration logic, variant definition, and part number structuring (in coordination with Sales and Product Management).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and ensure operational continuity, working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Management, Master Data, and Quality, while also acting as backup to Application Engineering when required.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical engineering degree.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a similar environment(electrical).

Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in circuit breakers or power components with solid understanding of product structures, Bills of Materials, manufacturing constraints, and Engineering Change Management processes.
  • Experience with configurable or variant‑rich product portfolios is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong application engineering skills for electrical products, combined with hands‑on expertise in SAP material creation and product lifecycle processes.
  • Ability to support urgent customer and project needs, coordinate cross‑functionally, and ensure compliant, accurate product data execution.
  • English and French fluent.

What we offer:
