Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is looking for a Product Compliance & Certification Manager to join our team. This is a hybrid role based out of our Plano, Texas, location.

SCOPE:

The Product Compliance & Certification Manager will lead regulatory compliance, certification strategy, and external quality assurance activities across Data Center & Energy Management-related products under Mitsubishi Heavy Industries product lines in North America. This role is responsible for ensuring all products, systems, and solutions comply with applicable North American regulatory, certification, and code requirements, while maintaining full alignment with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.'s QA/QC processes and procedures. The Product Compliance & Certification Manager will act as the primary interface with certification bodies, regulatory authorities, and customers on compliance-related matters, while coordinating internally with engineering, QA/QC teams, and program management to ensure timely and successful certification and market entry. This position collaborates with global stakeholders across Japan and the U.S. to align priorities, enable effective execution, and support MHIA’s long-term business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have at least twelve (12) years of experience in regulatory compliance, certification, QA/QC, or engineering within industrial, energy, or data center-related industries.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Regulatory Strategy

• Define and execute regulatory and certification strategies for DCEM America products and systems.
• Identify applicable codes, standards, and certification requirements (e.g., UL, ETL, NRTL, NEC, NFPA, environmental and emissions regulations).
• Develop certification roadmaps aligned with product development and program timelines.
• Provide early-stage guidance to engineering teams to ensure designs meet regulatory requirements.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on business and product lines.
• Represent DCEM America in regulatory discussions, industry forums, and audits as needed.
• Support alignment between North America operations and Japan HQ for global product compliance.

Certification Execution

• Lead certification processes including testing, documentation, submission, and approval with certification bodies (UL, ETL, NRTL, etc.).
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to prepare required technical documentation and test evidence.
• Manage certification schedules, risks, and issue resolution.
• Support factory and site inspections required for certification and compliance validation.
• Act as the primary point of contact with certification agencies, regulatory authorities, and inspectors.
• Manage certification schedules, risks, and issue resolution.
• Identify opportunities to streamline certification processes and improve regulatory efficiency.
• Capture lessons learned and integrate them into future product development and QA/QC processes.

Compliance Management

• Ensure all QA/QC and product compliance activities align with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. QA/QC processes, procedures, and global quality standards.
• Interpret and apply North American codes and standards to DCEM products and systems.
• Ensure ongoing compliance across design, manufacturing, installation, and operation phases.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on business and product lines.
• Support customer-facing discussions on compliance, certification status, and regulatory risks.
• Work closely with electrical and mechanical QA engineers, system engineers, suppliers, and program managers.
• Ensure regulatory requirements are embedded into design, procurement, and manufacturing processes.
• Identify regulatory and certification risks and proactively develop mitigation plans.
• Support resolution of compliance-related issues, including non-conformance findings and certification gaps.
• Lead escalation of critical regulatory risks to leadership.
• Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and recordkeeping for regulatory compliance and certification activities.
• Support internal and external audits related to quality and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain certification records and ensure audit readiness at all times.
• Support development of internal guidelines and best practices for regulatory compliance.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education Requirement: B.A. or B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering field
• Experience: Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in regulatory compliance, certification, QA/QC, or engineering within industrial, energy, or data center-related industries
• Strong knowledge of North American codes, standards, and certification frameworks (e.g., UL, ETL, NRTL, NEC, NFPA)
• Experience managing product certification processes and working with certification bodies
• Understanding of QA/QC systems and integration with regulatory requirements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in interpreting technical standards
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with regulators, customers, and internal stakeholders
• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

o Experience in data center infrastructure, power generation systems, or mission-critical facilities

o Familiarity with environmental and emissions regulations

o Experience supporting product certification for modular or packaged systems

o Experience in global organizations and cross-cultural collaboration (Japan–U.S. experience preferred)

o Knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (CAPA, FMEA, etc.)

o Certification or training related to regulatory compliance or quality systems

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Travel: 15-30%
• Standard Monday through Friday work week; additional hours as required
• Combination of office-based and field/certification site environments
